Job Description: Campaign Manager D'Arrigo for Congress
Melanie D'Arrigo is a mom and community leader running for New York's Third Congressional District as a first-time candidate. Born and raised on Long Island, she is now raising her own family in Port Washington. Melanie is running to fight for all of us, not corporate donors. She supports Medicare for All, a Green New Deal, common sense gun reform, and womens' rights.
Melanie is challenging Rep. Tom Suozzi, the vice-chair of the Problem Solvers Caucus, a group of Democrats who take corporate campaign contributions to undercut House Democratic leadership and hand power to Republicans. Suozzi has raked in hundreds of thousands of dollars in corporate contributions in his first few years in Congress, but we know we can win- with the right campaign manager helming our campaign.
The campaign manager will oversee all aspects of the campaign including day-to-day operations, the hiring and management of staff, the coordination and implementation of the fundraising operations and ongoing coordination with the candidate. They will also be responsible for creating and managing the campaign budget. The campaign manager must have excellent organizational skills, be level-headed, have good interpersonal skills- and can't be afraid of making big asks of people.
Responsibilities:
Hiring and managing additional staff
Coordination and implementation of fundraising operations
Maximizing candidate's time so that she can effectively engage supporters, talk with donors, and build relationships with endorsing organizations
Manage all other campaign team leads, including field, digital, and communications
Ensure these different realms are effectively integrated into one cohesive campaign plan
Required qualifications:
2+ years of political campaign experience
1 year experience managing staff
Very well organized; excellent written, verbal and presentation
Communications skills
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with colleagues and outside organizations and be able to multitask without sacrificing quality of work
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Ability to foster a cooperative, team-oriented work environment
Manage and work closely with Finance Director to develop the budget and finance/fundraising plan and ensure successful fundraising operations.
Desired, but not required, qualifications
Demonstrated understanding of political climate and issues of Long Island
Experience fundraising for a campaign or organization
Proficient skills in voter management software such as NGP VAN and Votebuilder
Location: New York's Third Congressional District stretches from northeast Queens to northwestern Suffolk county, with the northern half of Nassau County in between.
