The Federation of American Scientists — a DC-based small nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing global catastrophic risks and helping to build a world that is better informed —  is hiring a full-time HR/Office Manager/Grant Manager position. This individual will handle all aspects of human resources and office management and grant management responsibilities. 


Title: HR / Office Manager / Grant Manager

Salary Range: Between $50K and $80K/year, depending on experience

Reports to: President

 

The HR functional areas include: benefits administration, employee relations, performance management, on-boarding, policy implementation, recruitment / employment and working with FAS counsel to ensure employment law compliance. The office manager functional areas include: front office activities, support for the billing/invoicing process, support for the payroll process including the entry of bi-monthly timesheets and auditing of payroll related information, filling and maintaining all paperwork, maintaining and organizing all office supplies, liaising with outsourced IT support team, processing office supply purchasing requests and working with facilities and building management. Other duties include assisting the President, as needed.

 

The preferred candidate will also have grant management experience. The Grant Management functional areas include; optimizing the grant administration process, coordinating grant progress reports, ensuring compliance with grant regulations, liaising with outsourced accountants. NOTE: the grant manager is not responsible for fundraising.  

 

The ideal candidate is dynamic and team-oriented, with a proven ability to work collaboratively and creatively to help in the daily administrative needs in running a small organization. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

• Manages the day-to-day administrative affairs of the organization

• Office logistics, budget management, and grant coordination

• Handle Human Resource functions

• Point of contact for vendors and outsourced services

• Support budgeting and bookkeeping procedures

• Create and update records and databases with personnel, financial, and other data

• Assist the President, as needed

• Work across the organization to maintain a positive work environment

 

 

Qualifications

• 3+ years of combined human resources, office management, and grant coordination preferred • attention to detail and accuracy are a must • Knowledge of Excel or similar is a plus • Ability to prioritize, organize, and meet deadlines and goals

• Possesses excellent communication skills
