Programs and Policy Assistant
DESCRIPTION:
US SIF: The Forum for Sustainable and Responsible Investment seeks a Programs and Policy Assistant who is interested in sustainable and impact investing.
The Programs and Policy Assistant is responsible for supporting US SIF's public policy work as well as our education and training programs. The Assistant will also help support the work of the conference Agenda Committee. She or he will report to the Director of Policy and Programs but will also work closely with the Education Manager and the Research Director. The ideal candidate has strong project management skills and some knowledge of the public policy process. She or he is capable of effectively engaging with US SIF members and staff, is detail-oriented, and has good oral and written communication skills.
This is an excellent position for an early career stage professional who is excited about working across a broad range of US SIF initiatives.
Reports to: The candidate reports to the Director of Policy and Programs. The position is full time and based in Washington, DC.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Policy and Programs
• Provides legislative and regulatory research and tracking.
• Provides support for the work of the active Policy Committee, including taking meeting minutes and preparing agendas.
• Assists in organizing Hill Days and Congressional briefings, including assembling packets, scheduling meetings on Capitol Hill for members and managing logistics.
• Attends policy-related meetings and events.
• Helps plan US SIF Member Day and webinars for US SIF members.
Education and Training
• Supports the Education programming via scheduling meetings and calls, managing speaker information, and assembling packets.
• Helps manage education database, presentations, and quarterly reports.
US SIF Annual Conference
• Supports the Director of Research on work with the Annual Conference Agenda Committee, including drafting speaker invitations, taking meeting notes and managing speaker information, such as photos, release forms, follow-up correspondence and confirmation letters, and other tasks.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate will have the following traits and qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree required.
• An interest in sustainable investment is required; work experience in the field or a related field is preferred.
• Minimum of two years of work experience preferred; internships and work during college will also be considered.
• Some knowledge of the public policy process is preferred.
• Detail-oriented with demonstrated ability to organize and track multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Collaborative work style and capacity to anticipate the needs of colleagues.
• Strong oral and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency in office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to take initiative.
• Sense of humor and a positive attitude.
