Summary: Given the serious threat to progressive values across Florida, Equal Ground has begun an effort to engage the rising American Electorate through civic engagement activities with a goal to build and expand current capacity in communities of color. ​We will be hiring Regional Organizing Director to implement a plan in support of this effort.


Mission: With communities of color, we advise, empower and evaluate political representation  to create vital change through civic engagement, strategic planning, and social impact.  We train, mobilize and educate because we believe that an engaged community is a powerful community.

Locations: Orange, Seminole, Volusia, Pinellas

 

Position Description: Equal Ground Education Fund and Equal Ground Action Fund seek a full-time Regional Organizing Director in Orange, Seminole, Volusia, and Pinellas County for an aggressive organizing, communications, and canvassing program. The Regional Organizing Director will be responsible for executing the statewide voter registration plan, political organizing, regional communications, and supervision of organizer and volunteer operation(s) within their assigned region. Candidates should have familiarity with the County, demonstrated experience working in political campaigns or field environments, supervisory experience, comfort working long hours, computer proficiency, and access to reliable transportation. This position reports directly to the Managing Director. This is a full-time, campaign position running through May 31, 2020 with possible extension.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, train, and manage a team of organizers to meet community events, voter contact, registration and capacity-building goals.

  • Develop regional strategies and systems that lead your team to successfully meet daily, weekly and monthly organizing metrics, as well as maintain data integrity.

  • Build and maintain political relationships with local leaders in your region to increase buy-in and trust in the community at large.

  • Work with state leadership to implement new and innovative strategies in your region.

  • Ensure that all Organizing staff in your region are properly trained on the technical aspects of the job, and work with supervisors and support team to fill the gaps. 

  • Keep your team focused and motivated in a high-stress, rigorous work schedule and environment.

  • Adhere to stated deadlines and maintaining effective communication with state leadership.

  • Other duties as assigned, as related to the success of the campaigns.

 

Qualifications

  • Must have access to a personal vehicle with a valid driver's license, a cell phone and a laptop computer 

  • Availability to work long and irregular hours in a fast-paced, metrics driven environment.

  • Adaptable to changing conditions requiring critical thinking skills.

  • Good judgement and sound decision making skills

  • Possess a passion for community organizing and movement building.

  • Proven experience managing a team including resolving conflicts and holding team members accountable.

  • At least two cycles of electoral or issue-based field experience required.

  • Proven experience building community relationships through individual and group-based meetings.

  • Experience utilizing campaign tools such as Votebuilder/VAN or voter databases 

  • Basic knowledge of G-Suite and Microsoft Office Suite

  • Record of organizational skills that demonstrate the ability to meet deadlines while working on multiple projects for Equal Ground Education Fund and Equal Ground Action Fund

  • Possess a winning mentality.


Compensation: $3,000.00 - $4,000.00 per month. This position is eligible for fringe benefits, mileage and $100 cell phone stipend. Everyone will be subject to a background check. Applicants will be provided an opportunity to explain and/or correct background information.
