We are looking for a GIS specialist to join our team for a one-month consultancy. We are two Boston-based university researchers working under the guidance of two progressive organizations dedicated to organizing communities of color. Our project focuses on examining the seismic political, social, and economic shifts across the South. You will be responsible for mapping the findings from disparate datasets on voting trends, political contributions, and demographic shifts. The ideal candidate has experience with various platforms like QGIS, ArcGIS, or CartoDB. The GIS Specialist must be self-directed and comfortable overlaying quantitative and qualitative datasets.
-- WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR: 2+ years of experience in a data analysis role and has attained a degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems, or another quantitative field. They should also have experience using the following software/tools:
Experience with QGIS, ArcGIS, CartoDB, etc.
A successful history of manipulating, processing, and extracting value from large disconnected and unstructured datasets
Strong project management and organizational skills Self-motivated, strategic thinker with the initiative and drive to seize opportunities and the attention to detail to connect all of the analytical dots.
