About The Major Gifts Program Manager Role

Sister District Project (SDP) seeks to hire a Major Gifts Program Manager (MGPM). The MGPM will design and implement a high-dollar donor prospecting operation between the dates of April 13, 2020 and October 31, 2020, during the temporary leave of the organization's Development Director. The MPGM will work closely with the Executive Director and Board Members to meet monthly fundraising goals by building upon SDP's existing network of major donors across the country.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a strategic plan for identifying, cultivating, and soliciting new major donors to SDP's PAC and 527.

  • Generate a robust list of major donor prospects through ongoing research.

  • Schedule one-on-one calls and meetings for the Executive Director and Board Members with major donor prospects, and prepare detailed briefing materials in advance. 

  • Support major donor relationship management by recommending follow-up opportunities and drafting customized correspondence.

  • Work with the Executive Director to periodically update copy and collateral used in major donor prospecting.

  • Manage all aspects of pledge tracking and fulfillment. 

  • Coordinate with appropriate team members to ensure that major donors receive timely, handwritten acknowledgment of their gifts.

  • Maintain detailed records of outreach, correspondence, and outcomes.

  • Report back to the Executive Director weekly on program progress.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Passion for electing Democrats to critical state legislative seats

  • At least one election cycle of political fundraising experience

  • Demonstrated success in major donor prospecting at a national level

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Ability to work independently in a remote setting


Position & Pay

This is a short-term contract position requiring a commitment of 20 hours/week. Compensation will consist of a monthly retainer of $2,500 plus 10% commission on funds raised.
