DIGITAL STRATEGIST

We are seeking a digital campaign strategist who is passionate about building advocacy movements in countries across the world. This is a great junior to mid-level role for someone who has a few years of experience building their digital advocacy skills and is excited to apply that knowledge to different political and legislative systems globally.

Location: Washington, D.C.

Compensation is based on ability of applicant:
$50k-60k for junior applicant (e.g. has experience as Senior Account Executive, Account Manager, Online Organizer, Social Strategist etc.)
$60-70k for mid-level applicant (e.g. has experience as Account Director, Senior Strategist)

Key Responsibilities

  • Digital Campaign Research & Management 
    • Conduct landscape analysis, market research and discovery for country campaigns/organizations considering launching digital advocacy campaigns
      • Develop reports on country-level digital channel and advocacy tactical opportunities
      • Identify case studies of successful digital advocacy movements in-country 
      • Identify potential organizations, influencers and key opinion leaders for campaign-specific recruitment
    • Provide ongoing support for local organizations managing digital advocacy campaigns; including 
      • Supporting development of strategic plans to mobilize grassroots and grasstops audiences to achieve policy outcomes 
      • Assist in development of campaign creative concepts 
      • Assist in monitoring of rapid response opportunities based on campaign developments
    • Provide project management of in-country digital teams 
      • Participate in regular conference calls to discuss campaign progress, strategy and tactical review
      • Analyze campaign progress and provide metric reports for in-country campaign work
    • Coordinate with Washington D.C. based client staff
      • Participate in strategy meetings with policy staff, program team managers and communications staff to integrate digital campaigning into overall efforts  
      • Report back on campaign progress to stakeholders 
  • Digital Training and Capacity Building 
    • Support digital advocacy training programs, including course curriculum and content development and learning management system deployments 
    • Conduct in-person and virtual training sessions to build capacity of organizations to run digital advocacy campaigns
    • Develop and maintain community collaboration tools (Listserv, private Facebook group etc.) to foster peer to peer support;
    • Provide training tracking reports that follows progress of trainees throughout the training as well as key metrics of training participation and post-training performance.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Political Science or relevant field
  • 2-4 years professional experience in managing digital advocacy campaigns, including developing and executing digital campaign strategies and tactics against a policy or electoral goal 
  • Strong understanding of social media management, email/CRM-based engagement, mobile SMS-campaign, web-based engagement and/or online-to-offline activity 
  • Aptitude in use of interactive social media technology, tools, and applications for advocacy purposes
  • Experience working in a client-support setting 
  • Strong understanding of monitoring and evaluation methods for digital advocacy campaigns
  • Training facilitation experience, with particular emphasis on how to build and run advocacy campaigns 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, especially around digital campaign 
  • Good understanding and knowledge of the global social media landscape, with particular emphasis on lower-middle income countries.
  • Language skills a plus! Any of the following a bonus: Spanish, French, Mandarin, Bangla, Swahili, Vietnamese
