Digital/Press Secretary:
We are seeking a hardworking Digital/Press Secretary for David Buchwald, a progressive Democrat and NY State Assemblyman running for an open Congressional seat in NY-17 in a primary election this June. This is an open seat race to replace retiring Rep. Nita Lowey.
The Digital/Press Secretary will develop innovative social media content, draft communications copy, and drive the digital fundraising program.
Candidates should have strong written communication skills, a demonstrated interest in government and politics, and strong attention to detail in all aspects of work. The ability to write well and distill complex policies and ideas into concise social media, communications, and email content is a requirement. Must be willing to work nights and weekends, as needed. Creativity and a sense of humor are a plus.
Responsibilities:
· Craft and execute creative and dynamic digital content (including but not limited to Facebook posts, Tweets, and email blasts)
· Draft & edit communications copy (including but not limited to press releases, e-mails, media advisories, and opinion pieces)
· Maintain and grow press lists
· Monitor, collect, and organize daily press clips
· Constantly seek creative opportunities for engagement across platforms
· Provide regular qualitative and quantitative reports on performance
· Assist in other projects as needed
Skills and Experience:
· Clear, concise and engaging writing style
· Comfort with Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
· Experience with NGP and Mailchimp a plus
· Knowledge of graphic design a big plus
· Comfortable with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Drive/Docs/Sheets
· Ability to execute quality work under tight deadlines with little oversight
· Strong project-management and time-management skills
· Have or be willing to gain basic coding knowledge like HTML
· Local to Westchester or Rockland Counties or ability to relocate
· Car and valid driver's license
