Position Summary:
Progressive Turnout Project seeks a Spanish Language Engagement Coordinator to develop and implement organizational strategies to engage with Spanish-speaking Democrats and progressives across the country ahead of the 2020 election. We're looking for passionate political professionals with strong verbal and written Spanish language skills to provide strategic support for all existing departments to ensure this work is a priority as opposed to existing in a silo. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a combination of campaign and outreach experience as well as translation experience.
This is a full-time paid position based in Chicago, Illinois, reporting to the Executive Director. Compensation offered will be commensurate with experience. Position is eligible for benefits, including employer-sponsored health, dental, and vision insurance, FSA, 401(k) with employer match, student loan stipend, public transportation stipend, professional development allowance, 3 weeks paid time off per year, 11 paid holidays per year, and paid parental leave.
There are no formal education requirements for this position. People of all backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities:
Identify canvass best practices and work with Training Director to develop training for Field staff about how to engage Spanish-speaking households and Spanish-langauge barriers
Work with Field Director during development of Field materials and provide translation for Field materials such as scripts
Provide support to program staff to execute Spanish-language skills assessments during hiring processes
Coordinate with Communications Director to engage Spanish language media at national and local levels
Translate Communications materials such as press releases, social media, and website posts
Required Qualifications (You will be a good fit if):
You have strong verbal and written Spanish-language skills
You have at least one cycle of campaign experience working with Spanish-speaking populations (Communications or Field experience preferred)
You have a strong understanding and self awareness around the intersections of multiple identities
You're proficient in G Suite Products (Gmail, Calendar, Drive, etc), and Microsoft Office
You're passionate about electing Democrats to public office and contributing knowledge to the progressive community
