OVERVIEW

From July 13-16, 2020, Democrats from all over the country will gather together in the City of Milwaukee to participate in the Democratic National Convention, where we will nominate the next President of the United States. The Democratic National Convention Committee (DNCC) is assembling a diverse team with skills in community engagement, event logistics, finance, operations, IT, and more under the leadership of Tom Perez, Chair, and Joe Solmonese, Chief Executive Officer. The DNCC team will oversee and deliver on all aspects of the planning and execution of this Convention, from housing the delegates to convening Platform Committee meetings to producing the Convention's live programming, which will be seen by hundreds of millions of people around the world.

SUMMARY

The Digital Communications Manager will assist the communications team in developing and executing creative online strategies that engage a variety of audiences, inform stakeholders, and generate enthusiasm for the 2020 Democratic National Convention. In the months leading up to the convention, and during convention week, the Digital Communications Manager will create, implement, and maintain content across all social media platforms, including Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. Campaigns will be developed to amplify the voices of key stakeholders and engage surrogates.

REPORTING STRUCTURE

  • The Digital Communications Manager reports to the Director of Digital Communications. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Develop a strategic and creative social media strategy—from concept to execution—that engages key audiences and tells the story of our convention.

  • Create and oversee the development of videos, graphics, photos, and other digital content within convention branding.

  • Manage the production and deployment of all social media content, ensuring high-quality output and message consistency across all platforms and channels.

  • Create toolkits for surrogates and stakeholders and coordinate with other departments to ensure that we strategically and meaningfully engage a variety of voices.

  • Write content and manage the maintenance of the convention's official website.

  • Incorporate best practice examples and closely follow trends and emerging technology.

  • Manage daily and weekly reports on social media analytics to test and measure the effectiveness of our digital campaigns.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience managing large-scale digital campaigns, preferably in a political capacity or at a non-profit or consulting firm.

  • A deep understanding of all aspects of digital communications, including video, photography, social media, and website development.

  • Graphic design, video editing, and experience with Adobe design programs.

  • Proven success at developing innovative ideas and creative solutions to move messages and inspire key audiences to act.

  • Thorough knowledge of Google Docs, MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Wordpress. 

  • An ability to organize and manage multiple projects and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines.

  • Entrepreneurial spirit, strong problem-solving and creative thinking skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, sense of humor and ability to work well on a team.

  • Flexibility and openness to evolving responsibilities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

The DNCC will mainly operate out of the Headquarters Office, but will also maintain a number of satellite offices and additional venues. These spaces range from professional office environments to construction sites, and will require the operation of office equipment such as computers, phones, and copy machines. This position requires the ability to frequently stand and/or walk for both short and long periods of time. Employees may be asked to do tasks requiring dexterity or lifting items weighing up to 10 pounds.  All employees may request a reasonable accommodation to perform their job tasks.


ANTICIPATED START DATE: Immediately 


JOB LOCATION: Milwaukee, WI


TRAVEL: This job will require occasional travel - less than 10%.


FLSA ELIGIBILITY: This is an exempt position under the FLSA.
