COMMUNICATIONS ASSISTANT/INTERN – STATE REPRESENTATIVE CAMPAIGN
Subject: Democratic State Representative candidate running in MI HD 45 seeking a Communications Assistant
Election Day: Primary, August 4, 2020
Want to be part of a campaign that will be the most highly-targeted state-level race in Michigan in 2020? This candidate has raised more than any Democratic or Republican candidate has in our district this cycle. We're in a position to win this seat, and by doing so, flip the MI State House. We're looking to hire a talented and motivated volunteer Communications Assistant to serve as a press liaison, graphic designer, and assist with the creation of social media content.

CAMPAIGN FACTS:
Highly organized campaign team with over 12 core team members
Candidate has the ability to fundraise not only in-district, but and throughout the state and D.C. area.
The candidate is the only millennial and LGBTQ+ candidate in the race.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Design graphics for multiple platforms including Facebook, Instagram, email, and Google Ads
Cultivate relationships with reporters in the area
Pitch stories to targeted media contacts and promote campaign updates and events
Provide timely information to the press and work to build a positive media narrative surrounding the campaign
Identify opportunities for social media content to be shared with Communications Director
Partner with Communications Director on overall strategy
Identify press interviews and speaking opportunities for the candidate
Draft press releases, statements and other materials relating to campaign events, policy positions, and general updates
Conduct outreach on social media, for example, sharing updates and upcoming events with relevant groups on Facebook.
Perform other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
Graphic design experience required
Highly organized with the ability to hit deadlines and manage multiple tasks
Strong oral and written communication skills
Self-starter and highly motivated
Must be willing to work campaign hours, including nights and weekends
