Organizing Director
The Iowa Organizing Director will be responsible for hiring and managing a team of organizing staff to execute a voter contact program that will feature a highly-watched, targeted U.S. Senate race to defeat Joni Ernst, four competitive congressional races, opportunities to flip control in the Iowa legislature, and elect Democrats at the local level in all of Iowa's 99 counties. This is a general election position through November 15, 2020 and reports to the Coordinated Campaign Director.
Responsibilities Include:
● Hire and manage a team of Deputy Organizing Directors, Regional Organizing Directors and Organizers across the state
● Design and develop systems and best practices for supporting and training staff and volunteers remotely
● Work closely with the Coordinated Campaign Director on shaping organizing strategy and setting strategic goals
● Establish metrics and goals for the organizing team; track progress to goal, monitor success of the organizing program, and coach the team to meet goals
● Work closely with other department heads, including the Data Director and Digital Organizing Director, to develop and implement the program and track its progress
● Communicate clear priorities, needs, and expectations up and down the chain
● Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
● Significant experience managing organizers to hit goals in volunteer-centric electoral campaigns
● Ability to hire and manage diverse staff and volunteers remotely using a metrics driven approach
● Comfort in a rapidly changing and fast-paced work environment while keeping attention to detail and being solutions oriented
● Ability to problem solve effectively and creatively within tight deadlines
● High level of comfort with using technology to support organizing; experience with digital organizing strongly preferred
● Aptitude for data analysis; proficiency with VAN and Google Sheets
● Strong interpersonal skills and a positive attitude
