Tina Smith for Minnesota (TSM) is hiring a Latinx Community Engagement Organizer.  This is a full-time, paid position.  This position reports directly to the Engagement Director.


The Latinx Community Engagement Organizer is responsible for helping to execute the campaign's organizing plan in the Latinx communities across the state. As a Latinx Community Engagement Organizer, you will recruit volunteers to attend community events, attend community activities, build events for the campaign and help build and maintain relationships with a direct focus on the Latinx communities throughout Minnesota. Experiences working with Latinx communities is essential to this role. Minnesota experience is nice, but not required.


Our ideal candidate will have:

  • A commitment to progressive social change through electoral political organizing 

  • The ability to execute a strong plan and lead volunteers

  • A positive, kind, empowering and no-drama approach to their work

  • Deep understanding of racial and gender equity


Primary job responsibilities include:

  • Build relationships with community leaders to build political power across the state.

  • Recruit and train volunteers to ensure TSM has a presence across Minnesota

  • Work closely with scheduling team to develop and execute candidate and surrogate schedules

  • Plan and build crowds for events Senator Smith and/or campaign surrogates attend 

  • Build and maintain campaign database of community and elected leaders

  • Identify and capture political stories

  • Conduct in person volunteer recruitment and organize direct voter contact actions

  • Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in your communities

Minimum Qualifications: 

The ideal Latinx Community Engagement Organizer will be an authentic, inclusive, and a go-getter. The successful candidate will demonstrate many of the following qualifications and attributes:

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • An ability to keep calm and patient in all circumstances.

  • Ability to handle multiple projects at once.

  • Ability to meet short deadlines, while keeping long term objectives in mind.

  • Must be a self-starter and be able to work independently and as a part of a team.

  • Demonstrated commitment to racial/gender equity.

  • Experience organizing in communities of color and underrepresented communities across Minnesota. 

  • Knowledge and use of Vote Builder including Voter File, and My Campaign; and field management tools helpful.

  • Outstanding written and oral communication, including effective communication among diverse audiences and stakeholders
