JOB DESCRIPTION
Position: Field Coordinator, Healthy and Safe Contra Costa
Reports to: Campaign Consultant

OUR WORK​:

Healthy and Safe Contra Costa is a November ballot measure to bring in millions of new revenue dollars by putting in place a ½ cent sales tax to fund essential county services. 

Following a Needs Assessment compiled by a working group of community-based organizations and labor unions in Contra Costa County, representing essential healthcare and emergency services professionals, advocates for interpersonal violence prevention and mental health, early childhood programming and other critical safety net services provided across the county, this measure would secure funding for services which have been critical to residents during pandemic relief. . 

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Field Coordinator position plays a key role in the overall Field and outreach programming. Your role will include outreach to community based organizations across Contra Costa County, adhering to necessary ordinances and best practices for COVID-19 prevention, while building relationships and support for Healthy and Safe Contra Costa. You will be working with other active campaigns in the county to help maximize outreach to community groups and residents.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Electoral & Partner Work

  • Work closely with Campaign Consultant and Healthy and Safe Contra Costa committee to manage and facilitate innovative and creative engagement strategies and capacity building across the county.

  • Organize and facilitate coordinated and/or collaborative partner and community events.

  • Assist in the cultivation of relationships with partner organizations and community groups.

Operations

  • Assist on data organization and cultivation of internal systems related to field and organizing, e.g. NationBuilder and PDI lists.

  • Other duties as assigned. 

Required Qualifications

  • Ideal candidates will have 1-2 years of experience in political campaigns, progressive non-profits (with an organizing focus) or within similar entities.

  • Cultural Competence - must share a commitment to advancing racial justice and equity and ensuring an inclusive organizational culture. Familiarity with Contra Costa County government processes and communities within the county. 

  • Experience working with underrepresented and/or historically marginalized communities, particularly in political and organizing settings. 

  • Demonstrated ability to build consensus, negotiate within a highly collaborative work environment; ability to be trusted to lead and to be able to practice confidentiality, discretion and legal compliance in the work.

  • Ability to work independently and to drive and manage own workload; ability to manage several tasks/projects concurrently and prioritize work effectively by making and meeting team goals.

  • Excellent communication and time management skills, with attention to detail.

  • Experience with voter engagement programs and digital campaigns.

  • Flexible work schedule when evening and weekend hours are required.

  • Ability to work under deadlines

Location 

Although much of the work will be coordinated through Zoom and other online means, it is helpful for the ideal candidate to be a resident of Contra Costa County and have a working knowledge of the diversity of the region and community based groups. 

Salary 

$6,000 - $7,000 per month commensurate with experience.
