The Montana Conservation Voters Education Fund is seeking a Canvass Director to lead an exciting education and advocacy team. MCVEF seeks to run an issue-based canvass program to talk to Montanans about the dangers of federal lands transfer, and the importance of public lands to Montana's outdoor heritage.
Who We Are:
Founded in 1999, the Montana Conservation Voters Education Fund (MCVEF) is a nonpartisan, nonprofit 501(c)3 membership organization. MCVEF engages all Montanans and their communities by empowering them to protect our clean air, clean water, public lands and voting rights through education, mobilization and the power of grassroots advocacy.
The Montana Engagement Project (MEP) is a new field-based program of MCVEF that aims to meaningfully engage Montanans of all walks of life on the dangers of federal land transfer and how our public lands are at risk.
Goals:
This project is set to begin in late July. Established goals of the project:
- To reach out to thousands of Montana through phone calls, text messages, and social media.
- To identify and recruit conservation supporters to volunteer.
- To share information with individual voters in these communities about attacks on our public lands.
- To show voters how to fill out vote-by-mail forms, using online resources.
- To cultivate a welcoming, motivating and inclusive atmosphere based on trust, respect, and inclusion.
- To renew lapsed MCV members.
Qualifications:
1. An unqualified commitment to Montana Conservation Voters mission;
2. Ability to work as part of a team with staff and organizational leaders;
3. An ability to create and use a clear, compelling message and story that motivates voters to support Montana's public lands.
4. Preferably experience campaigning, and/or door to door contact;
5. Ability to use or learn to use the VAN for tracking voters;
6. A diligent attention to detail administering applications for voters' registration applications, applications for receiving an absentee ballot, and/or other election related documents;
7. Demonstrated professionalism, dependability and punctuality.
All MCV and MCVEF staff must share a commitment to integrating racial justice and equity into the work we do and ensuring an inclusive organizational culture. We are committed to building a more diverse and inclusive organization and conservation movement to fully represent and engage all Montanans. Recruiting staff that better reflects Montana is a priority and we encourage applicants from all cultures, races, ethnicities, geographies and all other identities to apply.
Compensation and Benefits:
MCVEF Organizer is a contract employee paid $20 per hour at 40 hours a week for 6 weeks including a stipend for cell phone and laptop. As a contracted employee, organizers are not eligible for health insurance or other permanent-position benefits.
