Project Manager, Electoral 

About Community Change and Community Change Action:

This position also supports Community Change Action, an affiliated 501(c)(4) advocacy organization. While motivated by the same core values – equity, inclusion, and justice – Community Change and Community Change Action operate independently of one another and each organization has its own board of directors.

Position Description

The Project Manager will provide strategic support to the Electoral and Compliance and Risk Management teams. This includes, building systems of engagement and reporting for current projects, impeccable completion of key administrative task, some scheduling of team members and team calls. This position will also provide program and administrative support to the Electoral and the Compliance team, and play a key role in promoting a sustainable, professional, organized, and collaborative atmosphere.

The Project Manager is an innovative self-starter, builds out the infrastructure and monitors that all projects are driven to completion. The individual thrives in a fast-paced environment, can work both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as part of a team. They demonstrate good judgment, and are flexible and highly trustworthy.

A portion of time will be spent working with Community Change's sister organization, Community Change Action.

This is a one-year flex position.

Principal Responsibilities:

Team(s) Administration

  • Manage and build systems for key team logistical support including but not limited to grants for partner organizations, ongoing reporting to critical team calls to rest of the team, expense reimbursements for senior staff, etc.
  • Provides extensive and effective calendar management for Political Director (ensuring a clear purpose and strategic use of their time).
  • Managers the team calendar and builds effective systems for communication on commitments and follow up.
  • Schedules and plans external meetings. This includes compiling and organizing relevant background materials, managing tech needs for meetings, preparing agendas and minutes, managing logistics, developing and managing budgets and monitoring follow-up activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Project Management

  • Will manage the storage and upkeep of partner's participation on critical team calls and report to different audiences as needed.
  • Works closely and professionally with the relevant allies, partners, consultants and departments across the organization to coordinate Community Change meetings and/or events.
  • Oversees and manages logistics for specific Team meetings, conferences, workshops and presentations. This includes working closely with the Senior Events Manager in securing and managing contracts and developing and tracking budgets.
  • Serves as point person between senior staff and other program and campaign staff within Community Change/Action.

Writing and Communications

  • Prepares draft presentations, letters and emails as appropriate for general and routine correspondence.
  • Handles internally and externally electronic and mail correspondence, including potentially confidential information, for senior staff.
  • Performs research and provides writing support for the team, as needed.
  • Prepares meeting-related documents, briefings, reports, etc.

Qualifications:

  • 3 -5 years of project management or administrative experience working in a non-profit or similar environment.
  • Record of accomplishment building systems of communication/follow up for teams, data management, and reporting to relevant audiences.
  • Experience managing calendars for senior-level staff/executives.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work accurately under deadlines and the pressure of a fast-paced work environment.
  • Strong writing and editing skills with an ability to adapt to different writing styles and formats.
  • Must be able to communicate information and ideas clearly and concisely.
  • Sensitivity to confidential matters is required.
  • Computer literacy required, including MS Office Suite skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal communications skills, diplomacy and discretion.
  • Team player with the capacity to be resourceful and flexible.
  • Ability to travel for Community Change and Team events.
  • Budget management is a plus
  • Written or verbal communication in Spanish is a plus.
  • Familiarity with the world of social change organizing and advocacy.
  • Commitment to economic, race and gender justice essential.

This position reports to: National Political Director

Classification: Community Change recognizes a staff bargaining unit affiliated with IFPTE Local 70, a union for non-profit workers. This position is included in Community Change's bargaining unit and covered under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.

Travel Requirements:  At least %15

Salary & Benefits: $60,000 – $68,000 annual salary. Community Change also offers an excellent benefits package, which includes 4 weeks of annual paid vacation; additional paid holiday leave between December 24 and January 1; 8% employer contribution to retirement account after six months of employment (and 3% employer contribution for the first 6 months); and a choice of generous health insurance plans.
