JOB SUMMARY

For Our Future Michigan seeks a motivated, outgoing, and results-driven organizer to support our canvassing efforts throughout Oakland and Macomb Counties. You will assist in recruiting attendees and or partners, as well as managing events, and work to engage area residents and activists on local and national causes, candidates, and campaigns that matter to them. Candidates should have familiarity with Oakland and Macomb, experience working in political campaigns or organizing environments, comfort working long hours, basic digital skills, and access to reliable transportation. The Senior Organizer reports to the Regional Field Director.
This is a full-time position through at least November 6, 2020.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
● Manage a team of relational organizers, be it staff or volunteers, using a variety of tactics.
● Take the lead in coaching and training staff and volunteers on best practices for organizing, paid canvassing recruitment, and retention.
● Perform canvassing daily via a variety of tactics, including but not limited to; calls, texts, digital messages, door knocking and email, to ensure that daily, weekly, and monthly goals for each metric are met.
● Assist in building and managing community events in execution of our field and organizing strategy.
● Implement rigorous processes for meeting assigned goals associated with each metric on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
● Monitor metrics including knocks per shifts, flake rate, completion rate, SMS goals, call goals, and confirmation rate.
● Prioritize quality voter interactions without sacrificing quantity.
● Ensure timely and accurate data entry and reporting.
● Represent the organization at community events and meetings when assigned.
● Assist in the execution of virtual and digital outreach campaigns in execution of our field strategy.
● Other job duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
■ High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
■ 1-year experience as a canvasser.
■ At least 1-2 cycles of competitive field experience.
■ Strong knowledge of Votebuilder/VAN.
■ Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, basic computer literacy, basic digital and database skills; access to a reliable laptop is ideal.
■ Ability to work long and irregular hours in a fast-paced, metrics-driven work environment.
■ Must have access to reliable transportation.
■ Ability to meet deadlines under pressure while handling multiple projects.
■ Ability to work independently and in team settings.
■ Strong coaching skills and abilities.
■ Possess a winning mentality.
■ Bilingual experience is a plus, but not required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
■ This position may supervise members of the field staff.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
■ Because of COVID-19, state and local government stay at home orders, phased reopening orders, and other factors limit For Our Future's canvassing program. When these limits apply, your work environment will likely be your domicile (teleworking) or a socially-distanced office. Door-to-door canvassing is considered an essential function of this job. When it is possible to safely and appropriately resume door-to-door canvassing, it will be a high priority. Employees may be required to work in extreme weather conditions, including rain, heat, and cold. This position is expected to interact regularly face-to-face with voters, volunteers or community partners.
EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
■ Employees may be required to work outside of normal business hours including weekends, holidays, and nights.
■ Employees may be required to abide by certain blackout dates during a campaign cycle, and generally not allowed to take more than 2-3 days off consecutively during blackout periods. Emergencies will not be affected by this policy.
