[GAINPOWER.org: Jobs That Are Left] State and Local Intern - End Citizens United/Let America Vote

Fall 2020 State and Local Campaigns Intern

Location: Virtual

End Citizens United's Mission: To fix our democracy by getting big money out of politics and protecting the right to vote. We will work to end our rigged political system by electing reform champions, passing meaningful legislative reforms, and elevating these issues in the national conversation. We will work in partnership with these champions to overturn Citizens United, end the unlimited and undisclosed money in politics, and protect and expand the right to vote.

Job Summary: The State and Local Campaigns Intern will take on a wide array of responsibilities within the State and Local Campaigns Department, including:

  • Tracking state level campaigns and legislative developments

  • Drafting memorandums about candidate policy positions and campaign status

  • Attending virtual conferences and webinars with candidates and elected officials

  • Working on joint efforts between ECU/LAV and its organizational partners

  • Providing administrative support to the State and Local Campaigns national and state-focused staff

  • Drafting sample Letters to the Editor for volunteers or candidates to submit

  • Monitoring endorsed campaigns for reform content to amplify

  • Contacting voters directly in key districts on behalf of endorsed candidates

Prospective interns should have a strong interest in taking on big money in politics and defending the right to vote. Previous electoral experience is preferred, but not required.

Interns will also benefit from the Intern Educational Program, which aims to educate interns on Democratic politics and the issue of reform while providing unique opportunities to hone their professional development skills. The program includes presentations with top Democratic professionals, tutorials on networking best practices, and discussions on themes within the reform movement. Additionally, interns will have the opportunity to interact directly with and receive professional guidance from all members of ECU, and will gain strong experience in progressive campaigning.

Due to the coronavirus, this will be a fully remote internship. Applicants from all locations are encouraged to apply. Please submit a resume, cover letter, and writing sample to jobs@endcitizensunited.org with "State and Local Campaigns Internship" in the subject line if interested. Please indicate in your cover letter where you viewed this posting. Interns will be paid $15/hr.
