Basecamp Strategy (Washington, D.C.) is seeking a talented, passionate, and hardworking Editorial Fellow to join our team with the opportunity for advancement in the near future!
It's clearly time for new leadership in Washington. If you want to break into politics and make an impact on the 2020 election, then this is the opportunity for you. Applicants who are available through November 2020 are strongly encouraged to apply. Please indicate in your application when you would be available to start, and how long you are available.
With campaigns moving online, digital fundraising is more important than ever and there's never been a better time to jump into our world. YOU can help the candidates we need in Washington get there by raising BIG $$$ for Democrats.
Past fellows are now either working for us or working on campaigns around the country. Our team is growing quickly, and as we staff up for the November elections, we will be hiring a full time Digital Editor, with successful Editorial Fellows being considered first for the position of Digital Editor.
Editorial Fellowship: The Editorial Fellow will work alongside our Content and Editorial teams helping to ensure that the voices of our candidates are perfectly captured in every piece of copy. You'll need a meticulous work ethic, a firm grasp on grammar and style conventions, and a deep love for pointing out misused homonyms. This Fellowship is a great opportunity to build communications and fundraising experience while supporting candidates you believe in at every level of our government.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Excellent editing skills
Ability to prioritize several tasks without letting anything fall through the cracks
A passion for editorial work
Dedication to electing kick-ass Democrats (incumbents and challengers) to office
Exceptional organizational skills
Keen attention to detail
About Basecamp Strategy:
At Basecamp Strategy, our vision for a better world drives everything we do: we believe that people with good ideas CAN change the world when empowered with the right tools and expertise.
We win tough races and elect incredible people by raising our clients as much money as possible online. But we're a different kind of digital fundraising firm: We motivate with honesty and authenticity. We're digital storytellers. And not only do candidates, donors, and voters prefer our style but we've also seen time and again that this kind of content drives the strongest fundraising results.
The best strategies for engaging donors have yet to be invented -- and we're here to innovate and do just that. And we can only do exceptional work if we have the best team in the business. We're a team of specialists that's here to challenge assumptions and figure out what performs the best today, not what worked in 2012, 2014, 2016, or November 2018.
We know that when more voices are at the table, bigger, better, and bolder things happen. In both hiring employees and recruiting clients, we approach every decision with a commitment to diversity. Basecamp Strategy recruits, employs, trains, compensates and promotes regardless of race, religion, color, national origin, sex, disability, sexual orientation, age, veteran status, and other protected status as required by applicable law.
Our approach has garnered us notice, and our team is growing and evolving quickly. No one is doing the same job they were doing six months ago or even three months or a month ago. You'll be asked to learn quickly, and the moment you've nailed it, we hope you'll be ready to learn something new.
If you love a fast-paced environment, doing tremendously good work efficiently, thinking outside the box, and figuring out how to go from great to incredibly great, then you'll love it here.
Application process:
If you're ready to dive right in and start helping us put flawless content into the world, please send an email with a one-page resume and a 100 words or less statement on what previous experience has prepared you for this role to jobs@basecampstrategy.com.
Please use the subject line "[Firstname Lastname] - Basecamp Strategy Editorial Fellow." Please indicate in your application where you heard about this position, when you would be available to start, and how long you are available.
Details:
Fellows will receive a $1,000/month stipend. Our office is located in Washington, D.C. but for now the program will be run remotely. We're looking for candidates who can start right away.
