Director, Organizing
End Citizens United's Mission: To fix our democracy by getting big money out of politics and protecting the right to vote. We will work to end our rigged political system by electing reform champions, passing meaningful legislative reforms, and elevating these issues in the national conversation. We will work in partnership with these champions to overturn Citizens United, end the unlimited and undisclosed money in politics, and protect and expand the right to vote.
Reports to: VP, Voting Rights and State Organizing
This is a cycle position with an end date of November 15, 2020. There is a possibility for this position to become permanent.
Job Summary: The Organizing Director will be responsible for creating and implementing a diverse and intersectional national organizing plan that will turn ECU members into activists and recruit new volunteers that reflect the communities we serve. This person will oversee volunteer trainings, create and coordinate volunteer events and opportunities, and build relationships with key partners and stakeholders in our targeted states.
Primary Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Developing and executing a comprehensive national organizing plan that is diverse and intersectional in order to best reflect the communities we serve
Creating and executing tactics necessary to hit organization-wide goals
Building cooperative organizing efforts with endorsed campaigns and partner organizations
Recruiting ECU/LAV membership to become volunteers and volunteer leaders
Revising and expanding the existing volunteer training program
Planning, recruiting for, and managing digital organizing events via Mobilize
Identify direct advocacy opportunities around legislation and holding elected officials accountable
Create Hustle content and track workflow performance
Working closely with state directors, national staff, and campaign staff to find opportunities to direct volunteers toward endorsed candidate volunteer events
Working across multiple departments to ensure coordination around events and opportunities
Performing additional duties as assigned
The Organizing Director must perform well both independently and in a team setting. They must have a strong interest in reforming our broken democracy and be committed to the diversity of our candidates, membership, partners, and staff. They are expected to have a minimum of 2 full cycles of field organizing experience at a political campaign or advocacy organization, and be comfortable with digital related tools such as Hustle, Mobilize, and NGP VAN and best practices. The Organizing Director must be extremely organized and able to accurately manage multiple projects at once. End Citizens United offers a competitive salary and benefits package.
