DEPUTY POLITICAL DIRECTOR––Jon Ossoff for U.S. Senate
LOCATION: Atlanta, GA / Remote
The objectives of the political department are to increase the candidate's visibility and voter contact and facilitate the engagement of elected officials, advocacy groups, democratic constituency groups and key stakeholders with the campaign. The Deputy Political Director is responsible for assisting the Political Director in executing the political objectives for the campaign. The DPD reports to the Political Director. The DPD must be organized and have the ability to work effectively both with the team and autonomously on various projects. The DPD works with specific constituency groups to organize their involvement with the campaign (i.e., labor, seniors, educators, LGBTQ, minorities, women, elected officials, etc.). The DPD helps develop a voter contact plan for particular communities by building relationships with existing organizations and stakeholders who represent these communities.
Responsibilities:
Assist the Political Director in identifying and nurturing relationships with elected officials, advocacy groups, democratic constituency groups and key stakeholders and leverage these relationships to advance the objectives of the campaign.
Draft briefing papers for the candidate for all events staffed by the political department.
Staff the candidate at events organized by the political department.
Staff the candidate for Political Call Time.
Manage the data collection of all political contacts.
Generate political events and meetings with stakeholders and constituency groups.
Manage volunteer political liaisons to each of the various constituency groups.
Assist the Political Director with managing the involvement of Surrogates with the
campaign
Develop and draft weekly Political Newsletter content
Assist the Political Director with identifying locations and volunteers for tv commercial shoots
Take photographs and videos of the candidate at events.
Collaborate with the Finance, Communications and Field teams to ensure cross-team collaboration on projects and bundling events to maximize the candidate's time.
Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills:
Natural ability to establish a rapport with people.
Tact and professionalism in handling assignments involving work of a confidential
nature.
Detail-oriented with the ability to produce high-quality work under tight deadlines.
Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, analytical problem-solving skills.
Strong oral and written communication skills, and demonstrated ability to communicate with others effectively.
Ability to adjust priorities in a fast-moving environment.
