Dr. Merav Ben-David is running for the open US Senate seat in Wyoming. She is an immigrant, a veteran, and has been a climate scientist for thirty years. If elected, she would be the only scientist in the US Senate. And she just won her primary in a landslide.
We are looking to bring on a comms director asap. The ideal candidate will have at least one cycle of excellent comms experience, an organizer's mindset and strong technical skills.
You thrive in a fast-paced campaign environment, and can keep multiple projects moving, plan for and hit deadlines. You will work closely with the campaign manager, finance director, organizing director, and policy director, and will have the opportunity to help flip one of the reddest states in the nation blue.
Responsibilities
Together with the campaign manager and the candidate, determine the overall message and communications plan of the campaign
Build a team of (depending on fundraising) comms interns or comms staff.
Handle press inquiries, reach out to press, occasionally serve as spokesperson.
Manage social media accounts to engage and set ambitious growth goals for our online community.
Stay attuned to current events and trending content in order to identify strategic engagement opportunities.
Help write fundraising emails and social media fundraising efforts.
Create visually compelling and shareable graphics.
Work to help supporters share their stories through videos, images, writing, press interviews, etc.
Developing and executing press strategies, including short and long term media outreach plans.
Secure positive media placements for the candidate and the campaign
Proactively pitching stories, creating media materials and shaping media narrative around our campaign.
Developing and fostering relationships with local reporters covering the campaign
Qualifications
You know how to run Facebook ad campaigns and/or other paid digital programs.
You can create compelling graphics and videos for social media using Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar tools.
proven experience growing social channels reach and influence;
experience working in a fast-paced campaign environment with an emphasis on rapid response;
excellent communicator, copywriter, and creative thinker, with an ability to use both data and intuition to inform decisions;
Preferred - Experience with photography and/or videography;
Preferred - Experience working with influencers;
Cultural Competency - able to build relationships and collaborate with colleagues, voters, and volunteers across lines of difference.
Experience / excellence in working with distributed volunteer networks and empowering them to achieve our goals
Preferred - Knowledge of Wyoming / Mountain West issues and politics
Reporting experience plus
Connections to local Wyoming reporters a plus
Past on record experience a plus
Salary range: $4,000 - $5,000
