The Systems Administrator I / Tech Support Analyst II is an entry level position, responsible for the operation and support of enterprise software systems and the related application infrastructure. This individual requires supervision but will also work independently. This individual ensures that software systems, business data and related procedures adhere to organizational standards and goals.

The Systems Administrator I / Tech Support Analyst II serves as an escalation point for IT Support and business teams and provides software and hardware support to end users across the entire organization. 

Well developed technology skills, positive work ethic, intellectual curiosity, and an analytical approach to problem solving are among the character traits critical for success in this position. 

Responsibilities:
Operational System Administration (50%)
  • Administers, monitors and improves enterprise software systems and the related infrastructure.
  • Performs daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
  • Limited networking support and maintenance.
  • Support the IT Operations Team in performing network and security audits.
  • Applies operating system (OS) patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrades administrative tools and utilities.
  • Assist in network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation.
  • Conduct technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure.
  • Assists with system issues, support requests, projects and improvement tasks.
  • Complete proactive maintenance tasks to reduce potential downtime.
  • Familiarize self with proprietary systems specific to this industry.
  • Continually prioritize multiple tasks based on need and urgency.
  • Create and maintain systems documentation.
Technical Support (40%)
  • Support the installation and configuration of laptop hardware and software to meet staff needs.
  • Assist with OS and third party patch management and deployments and serve as a backup resource.
  • Participate in maintaining computer inventory and asset management.
  • Participate in software asset management best practices deploying only licensed and approved software.
  • Participate in regular security drills to improve IT's ability to respond to technology incidents. Serve as escalation from Tech Support to Operations for end-users.
  • Respond to incoming user calls and tickets providing timely and effective resolution of end user requests.
  • Clearly and consistently document user issues, steps taken to resolve issues and issue resolutions within the IT ticketing system.
  • Provide informative status updates to users until their problem has been resolved.
  • Contribute to an IT knowledge base for solutions to known issues.
  • Provide Tech II support for operating systems and end-user software.
  • Manage and support printers and scanners.
  • Assist in managing end user accounts, permissions, access rights.
  • Assist in the deployment of workstations, printers, and scanners.
Mentorship and Teambuilding (10%)
  • Support other IT Team Members by sharing technology knowledge.
  • Support other IT team members when asked.
  • Pursue professional development goals to become a better and stronger team member.
Administration - General (5%)
  • Attend IT and Operations staff meetings.
  • Respond to emails and requests in a timely manner.
  • Complete timesheets on time.
  • Schedule meetings and video conferences as requested.
  • Assisting in purchasing IT equipment.
Qualifications:
  • 3 or more years' experience providing technical support in a PC network environment.
  • Microsoft MCP or MTA Certification required within 6 months of hire.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar experience.
  • Microsoft Certificatons a plus.
  • Working technical knowledge of network, PC, and platform operating systems.
  • Working technical knowledge of current systems software, protocols, and standards.
  • Experience working with the following technologies:
  • Cloud Security
  • Microsoft Server / Client Platforms
  • Videoconferencing and VoIP
  • Infrastructure Monitoring
  • Knowledge of local area network administration.
  • Hands-on software and hardware troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, Office 365Experience supporting users across multiple locations. 
  • Excellent customer service and computer trouble shooting abilities.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Flexibility to work as part of a team, but also independently with supervision as required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Weekend and off hour work may be required.
  • Demonstrates an awareness and sensitivity to the needs and concerns of individuals from diverse cultures, backgrounds and orientations.
  • Contributes to the creation of a diverse, equitable and inclusive work culture that encourages and celebrates differences  
  • Supervisory responsibilities: none

Salary is based on experience and location
Salary range in Washington, DC: $73,300 - $81,400
Salary range in San Francisco, CA: $77,000 - $85,600
