Job Summary
For Our Future Nevada seeks a Regional Health and Safety Manager to manage the tracking, implementation, and enforcement of health and safety measures in response to COVID-19 in Nevada and how they relate to our program and voting. The Regional Health and Safety Manager should be familiar with political or issue organizing, highly organized, have advanced computer literacy skills, exceptional communication skills, and be ready to build relationships and support our Nevada staff in implementing new procedures that keep us all safe.
This position reports directly to For Our Future Nevada's Operations Director. This is a full-time position that lasts at least through November 6, 2020.
Essential Functions
● Assist in tracking city/municipality and county public health guidance in their assigned region and ensure For Our Future NV's policies are compliant.
● Manages the region's implementation of new health and safety measures in response to COVID-19, including setting up training programs and internal data-tracking systems to monitor and enforce compliance, in consultation with the statewide Health & Safety Lead.
● Sets up a communication structure to receive frequent updates and qualitative data from staff in their assigned region and sends daily summary updates to senior management.
● Manages the daily tracking system around required daily health checks, and performs follow up as needed, including working with HR and Operations Director, and program staff.
● Works with national and state leadership to implement policy procedures, and auxiliary guidance, works with statewide NV Health & Safety Lead on developing or updating training materials as needed.
● Coordinates with national and state operations directors and program directors on ensuring adequate supplies of personal protective equipment (PPE) and other materials are available for region activities and helps oversee the dissemination of supplies.
● Provides direct support to program management staff on implementing policies, by holding regional trainings safe practices, answering questions, and helping identify issues and implement solutions.
● Works with the NV Operations Director / NV Health & Safety Lead, on all COVID-19 inquiries and issues.
● Researches changes to county policies as they relate to voting this November, tracks information on a regular basis, and assists state leadership in programmatic needs related to VBM, early vote, and election day operations.
● Performs other duties as needed to ensure the health and safety of the For Our Future Nevada staff and the communities we work in.
● Performs other duties as needed to ensure the success of For Our Future Nevada's voter outreach programs.
● Provides support to other Nevada Field staff in their assigned region managing employees conducting in-person activity in the field.
Supervisory Responsibilities
● This position may have supervisory responsibilities, including managing an in-person door-to-door canvass team.
Skills and Qualifications
● The ideal candidate will have at least 2 cycles of candidate or issue campaign experience.
● Highly organized with advanced technological literacy and experience working with data.
● Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
● Flexibility and a willingness to take on new tasks as the organization and the position evolves.
● Experience working on projects in a fast-paced environment.
● Exercises good judgment in high-pressure situations.
● Exceptional attention to detail.
● Strong interpersonal skills and possesses the ability to work with people at all levels of the organization and with diverse backgrounds.
● Management experience in a campaign or organizing environment is preferred.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
● Because of COVID-19, state and local government stay at home orders, phased reopening orders, and other factors limit For Our Future's canvassing program. When these limits apply, your work environment will likely be your domicile (teleworking) or a socially-distanced office. Overseeing door-to-door canvassing is considered an essential function of this job. When it is possible to safely and appropriately resume door-to-door canvassing, it will be a high priority for this role to stage, launch, and manage canvass programs. Employees may occasionally be required to work in extreme weather conditions, including rain, heat, and cold. This position is expected to interact regularly with community partners face-to-face or in a group setting and may also be expected to interact face-to-face with volunteers or voters.
Expected Hours of Work
● Employees may be required to work outside of normal business hours, including weekends, holidays, and nights.
● Employees may be required to abide by certain blackout dates during a campaign cycle, and generally not allowed to take more than 2-3 days off consecutively unless it's an emergency.
