The Organizer for Mainers for Working Families will focus on engaging local communities in our issue priorities and developing an empowered grassroots base to advance our goals. The Organizer will be integral to advancing our agenda by collecting stories from stakeholders in Maine and identifying local leaders willing to validate and expand the reach of our message.
This is a contracted position paid at a rate of $24 per hour not to exceed 20 hours in a week. The contractor is responsible for sending an invoice to the Executive Director biweekly documenting all work completed during the previous two weeks and the hours spent on each task.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Direct outreach to local leaders and Mainers with a stake in MFWF's agenda to engage them in our work, collect their stories, and empower them to take action to advance our goals
Research to identify potential targets for outreach who may support our work or who have influence on key policy outcomes
Regularly sharing MFWF content and action items with relevant constituencies
Checking in regularly with the Executive Director to establish program goals, review progress, and troubleshoot challenges
Maintaining a database of MFWF's supporters that details the constituencies they belong to, their contact information, their stories, and our contact history with them
Requirements:
An organizing mindset and the ability to think critically and creatively problem solve
Ability to multi-task, and prioritize work based on timelines and priorities
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others
Experience with Excel, Google documents, Word, and other office programs.
Previous community or electoral organizing experience preferred
Applicants with existing relationships to veterans, small business owners, or health care professionals strongly preferred
Success will be defined by:
The number of stories collected from stakeholders and validators about MFWF's issue priorities
The number of grassroots supporters who take action to support MFWF's goals following contact with the Organizer
The variety and depth of relevant constituencies that the Organizer engages with MFWF's work
