[GAINPOWER.org: Jobs That Are Left] National Center for Transgender Equality-US Trans Survey Outreach Coordinator-Remote

Hello,

Our community is changing, our needs are changing, and the challenges we face are changing. We are learning to adapt and finding new ways to face those challenges and fight the battles. The only way we can do that, though, is with quality data in hand. That is why we are looking for two full-time, detail-oriented people-persons who would enjoy speaking to countless people on the phone and via Zoom to run the U.S. Transgender Survey (USTS).

The USTS the largest survey ever devoted to the lives and experiences of trans people. With 28,000 respondents, the survey is quoted daily by news outlets throughout the US, and is the main source of data about trans people for the general public and the trans community itself. The data is well known not only for documenting trans experiences, but for documenting the disparities and higher levels of mistreatment faced by trans people of color.

These two staffers will work remotely for approximately one year to make the USTS the best it can be and ensure it captures the full breadth of our communities. We are looking for people who reflect all of the communities we serve—people who have a commitment to prioritizing justice for trans people, especially those who are most marginalized.

We made changes to our hiring process this year—we have a new diversity statement, an updated EEO policy, and a new online applicant portal to streamline the application process. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, the hiring process will take place over the phone and video.

  • Apply now to be our US Trans Survey Project Manager if you want to manage the project timeline, oversee the website update, and work with the research team to build out the survey.
  • Submit an application to be our US Trans Survey Outreach Coordinator if you are interested in being an integral part of developing, maintaining, and fostering good relationships with multiple organizations and high-profile community leaders, and developing a recruitment and outreach strategy to make the voices of all trans people heard.

Full details about all the listed positions, including salaries and our generous benefits package, and how to apply are available on our new jobs page.

If you think you might be a good fit, we encourage you to apply now!

If you know of someone who might be great in one of these roles, please share far and wide!

Thanks,
The Team at NCTE

NCTE is committed to creating a diverse staff made of people who are hardworking, kind, optimistic and committed to social justice from all segments of transgender and allied communities. Transgender people, including non-binary people, people of color, people who were formerly incarcerated, and people with disabilities are particularly encouraged to apply.

US Trans Survey Outreach Coordinator

Are you looking for an opportunity to use your skills to make a significant contribution to the knowledge base about transgender people? NCTE currently has two different positions open for the US Trans Survey, a Project Manager and an Outreach Coordinator. Please be sure that you are applying for the position(s) that you are interested in.

The National Center for Transgender Equality is seeking a full-time Outreach Coordinator for the US Trans Survey (USTS) project for a period of approximately 9-12 months (through summer or fall of 2021). The USTS is the primary source of data about transgender people (including non-binary people) in the United States, producing in-depth information about trans people's experiences overall, with special reports that focus on trans people of color.

We are hiring a Survey Outreach Coordinator to join us to develop and launch the 2021 USTS. The Survey Outreach Coordinator will work closely with the Project Manager to plan and execute outreach strategies to ensure that a large and diverse sample of transgender people, including those who are non-binary, throughout the US take the survey. The survey will prioritize recruitment and outreach efforts primarily to reach transgender communities of color, with secondary focuses on those living in rural areas, those who are living with HIV, and those who speak Spanish as their primary language. The ideal candidate will have strong work experience in organizing within/with various transgender communities of color and other prioritized communities. This position is designed to be remote, with no travel except in the unlikely event that COVID resolves.
