Antonio Reynoso for Borough President  - Communications Director Position

The Antonio Reynoso for Borough President campaign is looking for a full-time Communications Director to build a strong and creative communications plan for this competitive and progressive race in Brooklyn, New York. The Communications Director will be responsible for designing and executing a communications strategy to elect Antonio. The position reports to the Campaign Manager.



About Antonio Reynoso

Antonio Reynoso is the Council Member for the 34th District, representing parts of Bushwick, Ridgewood, and Williamsburg. Antonio was born and raised in the Southside of Williamsburg to parents who emigrated from the Dominican Republic. He is currently serving his second term in office, and throughout this time, he has been committed to improving the quality of life within the district while advancing progressive, bold legislation citywide. 


Communications Director Responsibilities


  • Design and execute a creative communications plan 

  • Oversee all aspects of campaign communications, working closely with the campaign manager and communication consultants

  • Build relationships with NYC Press

  • Set up and staffing media interviews 

  • Write copy for internal and external communications (press releases, fundraising letters, newsletters, emails, print collateral, website, social media, etc.)

  • Maintain the campaign social media and overall online presence

  • Work alongside the Campaign Manager to organize creatively to achieve fundraising metric


The ideal candidate will have these qualities:


  • Strong ability to take feedback and adapt 

  • Commitment to progressive values 

  • Critical thinking skills 

  • Self-starter with great time management, organization, and problem-solving skills

  • Experience in setting and achieving strategic and measurable targets

  • Creativity and vision to build new programs from scratch

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, especially listening skills and ability to communicate professionally and empathetically, in writing and verbally

  • Experience with writing press releases, email copy, and designing a communications plan

  • Knowledge and experience in NYC Politics helpful, but not required 




Communications Director Qualifications

  • New York and/or Brooklyn experience is preferred, but not required 

  • This position is ideal for a candidate with at least two cycles of experience on an electoral campaign

  • Graphic design, InDesign, NGP, WordPress, and HTML knowledge

  • Social media fundraising experience


This position will be compensated at $5,000  per month. Interviews will be done on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
