We currently have an opening for a paid internship on our political analytics team focusing on data handling and processing public opinion surveys. This internship will last six months and is 40 hours per week. We are currently screening candidates who can work remotely while our DC office remains closed and is available for the full six-month term. The ideal candidate must have access to a reliable internet connection and must be a self-starter who is able to work independently with little to no direct oversight. Should our Washington, D.C. home office reopen before the end of the six-month internship term, it is expected that the ideal candidate be willing and able to come join the rest of our team at the office.
GQR is seeking a full-time intern with an interest in public opinion research, U.S. politics and political campaigns, with excellent research, communication and organizational skills. Our interns gain an inside perspective on public opinion polling, learning what it is, how it works, and how it's used in political and advocacy campaigns. Interns learn to work as part of a team in a fast-paced office setting while developing communication skills and a keen attention to detail. Key Responsibilities:
· General administrative tasks across a number of platforms.
· Standardizing and storing internal and externally-sourced survey data.
· Basic relational database administration including development, troubleshooting, and inventory.
· Debugging scripts, designing and performing general QA, and updating or rewriting legacy code as needed.
· Using statistical software to conduct political data analysis and create data models.
· Creating statistical outputs and contributing to reports and graphic presentations.
· Designing and maintaining reporting on the progress of various company-wide data goals.
Qualifications:
· Past office experience, understanding of and interest in U.S. politics, ability to handle multiple tasks, and attention to detail are necessities.
· Ability to programmatically compile, clean, and transform datasets to a desired format.
· Ability to quickly learn new platforms and programming languages (Python knowledge is a plus).
· Familiarity with STATA, R, or SPSS is required, and an interest in political public opinion research/campaign management is greatly appreciated.
· SQL proficiency is a plus.

· $15.00 hourly base pay, plus time-and-a-half overtime for any hours worked over 40 per week.
