The Democratic Party of Virginia is seeking a detail-oriented and energetic Special Projects Manager to provide administrative and logistical support to Executive Staff. The Special Projects Manager will report to the Executive Director.
Responsibilities of the Special Projects Manager will include but are not limited to:
- Serving as day to day project manager on behalf of the Executive Director and Chair to maximize efficiency and ensure priorities are consistently met in a complex campaign environment. This includes but is not limited to
- Scheduling and confirming internal and external meetings;
- Cataloguing incoming emails;
- Tracking progress of certain conversations and projects;
- Accompanying the Executive Team to meetings and/or events;
- Scheduling travel arrangements.
- Maintain essential Party services by organizing office operations and procedures including but not limited to
- Maintaining, ordering and overseeing all office supplies and stationary (letterhead, envelopes, etc.);
- Assisting the finance director to ensure that thank you notes are written and signed in a timely manner;
- Working with the Digital Director to ensure that the website is maintained and social media platforms are updated regularly with Party events;
- Overseeing office-wide schedules, including the conference room.
- Serving as primary reception for callers and visitors to the building. This includes greeting and responding to any/all inquiries and directing callers & visitors to the appropriate staffer;
- Managing the internship program by recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding new interns each semester.
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year paid/unpaid work in political, advocacy, administrative work, office operations and/or event support;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Attention to detail and well organized;
- Excellent relational skills: friendly, diplomatic, patient disposition;
- Strong time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously under strict deadlines;
- Willingness and ability to work outside of normal business hours;
- Ability to work well with diverse groups and populations
- Responsive and positive team player who enjoys versatility and constant new challenges;
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Docs, Zoom and other live streaming platforms, Facebook, Twitter and other social media tools;
- A strong commitment to Democratic values; and
- Preferred: 1 year of Virginia political experience
This is a full-time position through December 31, 2021.
Annual Salary Range: $45,000 - $55,000
Benefits:The position will include medical, vision and dental insurance benefits at no cost to the Special Projects Manager.
