Basecamp Strategy is a fast-growing digital fundraising firm making a big impact in politics. We're digital storytellers who help to elect incredible people by raising our clients as much money as possible online. Our core values as a company are doing good, enjoying the experience, and growing our strength as an organization so that our employees can live meaningful lives.
Who we are:
We believe that people with good ideas CAN change the world when empowered with the right tools and expertise.
We motivate donors with honesty and authenticity, and we don't follow the traditional playbook. We're a team of specialists that's here to challenge assumptions and figure out what performs the best today, not what worked in 2014, 2016, 2018, or even 2020.
We are growing and evolving quickly as individuals and as a company. No one is doing the same job they were doing six months ago, three months, or even a month ago.
We want to bring new perspectives onto our team because we know that when more voices are at the table, bigger, better, and bolder things happen. In both hiring employees and recruiting clients, we approach every decision with a commitment to increasing diversity and inclusion both within our team and within the Democratic Party at large. We recruit, employ, train, compensate, and promote regardless of race, religion, color, national origin, sex, disability, sexual orientation, age, veteran status, or higher-education status. Our Fellows and full-time employees are paid according to transparent salary tiers.
Editorial Fellows will work alongside our Content and Digital teams, helping to ensure that the voices of our candidates and clients are perfectly captured in every piece of copy. This Fellowship is a great opportunity to build communications and fundraising experience while supporting candidates, PACs, and organizations you believe in at every level of our government. Applicants who are available starting February 3rd are strongly encouraged to apply.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
Punching up email copy to make it more readable, impactful, and persuasive
Catching grammatical and production errors to ensure high-quality fundraising emails
Fact-checking content and learning how to make decisions that maintain ethics and integrity in digital fundraising
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
A keen grasp of grammar and style conventions
A good eye for small errors; you're detail-oriented and meticulous in your work
A dedication to quality and integrity in digital fundraising
An ability to assert your opinions while working flexibly with writers and producers
The level-headedness to work quickly and calmly in fast-paced situations
A good eye for puns and wordplay; bringing a sense of fun, energy, and human connection to a virtual workplace
A passion for progressive politics and a desire to truly make our country better through your work
Final details:
The Fellowship will be run remotely, but our team remains a close-knit community. The Fellowship lasts 3 months and includes a $1,500 / month stipend, as well as the home office technology necessary to be successful.
Additional workplace features include: WOO! Fridays ("Work On Ourselves! Fridays" are devoted to professional development and, for Fellows in particular, the exploration of other departments); frequent virtual hangouts with food/drinks reimbursed; and participation in various committees related to company values and culture.
If you enjoy a fast-paced environment, doing tremendously good work efficiently, thinking outside the box, and figuring out how to go from great to incredibly great, you'll love it here.
To date, over 50% of Fellows have joined our team full-time after completing the Fellowship, while another 25% joined 2020 campaigns or worked with us part-time as freelancers while finishing their undergraduate degrees.
Even with the Presidential Election behind us, Fellows should expect an intensive, fast-paced environment — and an incredibly rewarding experience.
Application process:
If you're ready to dive right in and help us exceed our clients' fundraising goals in 2021, please send an email with a one-page resume and a statement of 100 words or fewer on what previous experience has prepared you for the Editorial Fellowship role to jobs@basecampstrategy.com.
Please use the subject line "[Firstname Lastname] - Basecamp Strategy Editorial Fellowship."
Please indicate in your application where you heard about this position and when you would be available to start.
