The Operations Director will be in charge of ensuring the execution of all business operations are carried out in an orderly, cost effective manner. This includes developing and implementing operational policies and procedures, overseeing budgeting, financial reporting, planning and auditing. The individual who fills the role will also be tasked with helping to promote high company morale and a culture which allows staff to thrive in a progressive workplace.
This position may or may not have a role in HR management -- those without HR experience are still encouraged to apply and it's possible the role will be filled by more than one employee.

-- - Handle company finances including cash flow, invoicing, and budget management.
- Oversee all office management and administrative functions
- Ensure all legal and regulatory documents are filed and monitor compliance with laws and regulations.
- Work with principals to determine values and mission, and plan for short and long-term goals.
- Identify and address problems and opportunities for the company.
- Support worker communication with the management team.
- Manage vendor relationships
- Help create HR policies and procedures that are up-to-date and consistent with local and federal law
- Help lead employee onboarding and off-boarding including exit interviews
Must Haves:
- Minimum 5 years of operations or HR professional experience
- Understanding of general finance and budgeting, including profit and loss, balance sheet and cash-flow management.
- Expertise in Quickbooks
- Excellent communication skills.
- Solid understanding of financial management.
- Familiarity with HRIS systems, payroll systems, employee timekeeping systems
- Familiarity with ACA, E-Verify, DC and federal employment laws
- Proficient with Google Suite and Microsoft Office Suite; tech savvy; general PC efficiency
- Ability to handle sensitive information / situations in strict confidence and in appropriate, professional manner
- Ability to build professional relationships across cross-functional departments
Nice to haves:
- Bachelor's degree in operations management or related field.
- Background in Democratic campaigns, progressive organizations or issue-driven nonprofits
