[GAINPOWER.org: Jobs That Are Left] Paid Canvassers for Bloomington, IL City Council Race

The Friends of Tom Crumpler campaign for Bloomington City Council seeks motivated applicants for Paid Canvasser positions for the April 6, 2021, election. Bloomington, Illinois, needs a pragmatic voice to represent Ward 9. This is an opportunity to make a difference in the community. Applicants will be considered on a rolling basis. 

About the Position: Canvassers are an essential component of campaign direct voter contact. This position will follow strict safe door-to-door canvassing in accordance with social distancing and health and safety guidelines. Position specific training will be provided. Hourly salary is $15/hr

Requirements: This position is an entry-level position. No experience is necessary, but is welcomed. Ideal candidates are self-starters, personable, and eager to learn and grow professionally. Interest in politics, government, campaigns, or community preferred. This position is ideal for the politically interested, recent Census workers, community activists, and/or folks that want to make a difference in their communities. 

All candidates should be capable of traveling long distances on foot, up and down stairs, and along neighborhood sidewalks. A functional cell phone and reliable transportation are required and a car or similar personal vehicle is recommended. All necessary training will be provided.

About the Candidate 

Tom Crumpler has been a community member of Bloomington for over 20 years. He taught high school English in Ohio and continued his education at Ohio State University. He joined the Illinois State University faculty in 1999, teaching in the School of Teaching and Learning. While at ISU, he directed the Borg Literacy Center, which provides literacy programs to children throughout Central Illinois. He raised his two sons in Bloomington, choosing it because of the people, the sense of community, and the cultural and educational opportunities.
