For Our Future Wisconsin seeks a motivated, outgoing, and results-driven organizer to support our voter outreach efforts in Milwaukee. You will perform day-to-day canvassing in your assigned turf and work to engage area residents and activists at the door on local and national causes, candidates, and campaigns that matter to them. Candidates should have familiarity with Milwaukee, experience working in political campaigns or organizing environments, comfort working long hours, and access to reliable transportation.
This is a part-time position through April 6, 2021.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
■ Engage voters in meaningful conversations at the doors in diverse communities with the core goals of:
○ Persuading them to vote for progressive candidates and issues
○ Motivating them to vote for progressive candidates and issues
■ Perform voter contact door to door daily, to ensure that daily, weekly, and monthly goals are met.
■ Meet assigned goals associated with each metric on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
■ Report daily on quantitative and qualitative metrics, ensuring timely and accurate data entry and reporting.
■ Attend weekly scheduled calls and meetings.
■ Attend trainings on voter contact tactics, program strategy and safety.
■ Adhere to all health and safety protocols and procedures.
Qualifications:
■ Previous campaign or other voter contact experience preferred, as a volunteer or staff member.
■ Knowledge of Votebuilder/VAN or a willingness to learn is preferred.
■ Must have reliable transportation across Milwaukee County.
■ Ability to work long and irregular hours in a fast-paced, metrics-driven work environment.
■ Ability to meet deadlines under pressure while handling multiple projects.
■ Ability to work independently and in team settings.
■ Strong interpersonal communications skills.
■ Possess a winning mentality.
■ Bilingual experience is a plus, but not required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
■ Door-to-door canvassing, in-person management, and training is considered an essential function of this job. As long as it is possible to safely and appropriately conduct door-to-door canvassing, it will be a high priority. Employees will be provided with health and safety training, and personal protective equipment (PPE). Employees may be required to work in extreme weather conditions, including rain, heat, and cold. This position is expected to interact regularly face-to-face with voters, volunteers or community partners. Because of COVID-19, state and local government stay at home orders, phased reopening orders, and other factors may sometimes limit For Our Future's canvassing program. When these limits apply, your work environment will likely be your domicile (teleworking) or a socially-distanced office.
EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
■ Employees may be required to work outside of normal business hours including weekends, holidays, and nights.
■ Employees may be required to abide by certain blackout dates during a campaign cycle, and generally not allowed to take more than 2-3 days off consecutively during blackout periods. Emergencies will not be affected by this policy.
■ Part time canvassers work fewer than 30 hours per week. Full time canvasser positions are also available; if you prefer to work more than 30 hours/week, please apply to a full-time position.
