Dear Jobs That Are Left Community:
It has been a tough start to this year. With so much gun violence, mass shootings, and the horrific and heartbreaking murder of Tyre Nichols, some days are A LOT. Especially for many of you - this activist community is who many depend on to fight for change and end violence. We believe more support and positive encouragement is needed for all of us - which is part of why we created the Powerful IDEA Awards.
We understand the power of relational organizing. So we're asking for your support too. Can you forward this email to Democratic & Progressive colleagues and friends? (this link makes it handy) I'm sure you know folks who should get nominated for the awards but are not on our lists. We have a good network but don't pretend to know everyone who deserves recognition - and we hate folks to miss out. Of course, you should nominate yourself too. Self-nominations are the best!
To build community, we depend on word of mouth and references, not paid acquisition. These are the first professional awards for the dedicated change-makers and essential work done to impact democracy, elections, and advocacy. We don't want anyone left out from them. Sending love to all - but especially to every Black, Brown, APIA, and Native community member. I'm sadly aware of how much more personal and traumatic these criminal acts are for you. I'm grateful to be with you in the community of passionate progressive activists. We hope these awards can bring some necessary joy and inspiration to keep fighting for the justice and changes our country needs today.
