What a week - so many emotional ups and downs are doing this work. We join the loud chorus of organizations and communities angry at the SCOTUS decisions. The first anniversary of Dobbs stung almost as much as it did when it first leaked.
Between that and this week's Affirmative Action case, the LGBTQI+ Rights case, and the decision on Biden's College Loan forgiveness program, SCOTUS devastates this country and its progressive agenda. They are all a reminder of how grateful we are for the work done by this community. This work can undoubtedly be demoralizing at times, so finding joy and happiness in it is essential.
We're still over the moon about the amazing turnout and success of our Powerful IDEA Awards - it was great fun lifting up our awardees. So many more in this community deserve recognition and appreciation for the work done - and we hope to do more of it. It is still a relatively new program for us that we want to improve over time and engage this whole community better. On this last day of Pride month, we're sad to see the joyful celebrations end, especially as the relentless attacks on the LGBTQI+ community continue to escalate.
We can never forget that too many people and communities we care about need us more than ever as we move into a long weekend to celebrate America's freedom and independence. Too many have never felt either. We hope you can be with friends and loved ones and have joy and relaxation. The year ahead promised to be bumpy, and we need you all strong and ready to organize.
