Position Description
LEE seeks a collaborative and entrepreneurial leader to develop and lead programming to cultivate and advance mid- and senior-level LEE members' policy leadership goals that will allow them to secure and succeed in leadership positions to increase opportunities and achievement for students from low-income communities.  In addition to program development, the Director will be responsible for developing strong relationships with policy leaders, coach them in their individual leadership and identify new, sustainable support opportunities.  The Director will collaborate with the Policy Team to track the pipeline of LEE policy leaders. The Director will help manage other members of the Policy Strategy and Development team and hire consultants, when necessary, to achieve program priorities.  
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated expertise in education policy, have comfort engaging with high-impact policy and elected leaders, experience developing workshops for adult learners, thrive in a collaborative and entrepreneurial environment and be a proven self-starter.
This position reports to the Senior Director, Policy Strategy and Development. The Director will also work closely with the Leadership Development and Design team to ensure alignment across all LEE programs.

Requirements, Skills, Knowledge, Abilities & Competencies
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 5-7 years professional experience; minimum of 3 years previous experience with education policy at any level of governance
  • Experience and confidence in engaging with high-impact policy and elected leaders
  • Expertise in policy content and a demonstrated knowledge in the political process
  • Experience developing and managing leadership trainings for adult learners
  • Highly organized - able to handle multiple and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills 
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Exceptional project management skills, completing high-quality projects in a timely manner
  • Ability to work independently and function effectively in a team environment (virtually and in –person) 
  • Flexible and committed to continuous learning
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when working with sensitive information and materials
  • Deep passion for educational equity and belief in LEE's theory of change

Salary for this position is competitive and depends on prior experience. In addition, a comprehensive benefits package is included.
