Description: Salaried/overtime exempt position excluded from the Staff Union bargaining unit (managerial/supervisory)

Summary: Homecare Field Manager, is a management position on the Leaders in Action team in the Member Programs and Participation department. The field manager is responsible for developing and maintaining member leadership, recruiting and executing major union wide events, and developing and executing campaigns geared toward achieving the goals of the union.  The field manager leads a team of organizers and member volunteers to carry out the work of the union. Continuously work toward membership maintenance. Position works with young, fast-growing, innovative, bold and progressive union that has grown from 1700 to 44,000 members in the long-term care industry in the space of 12 years. 

Principal duties and responsibilities include:  
  • Supervise team of 8 organizers.  Responsible for staff development and discipline, hiring, and assuring union dues are used appropriately. 
  • Develop and implement standardized curriculum for leadership trainings, staff trainings, and member trainings. 
  • Long term strategic planning for the LiA team and as well as larger union wide programs. 
  • Developing program, campaign plans, and messaging and execute multiple complex field plans simultaneously. 
  • Insuring that each program achieved goals while functioning to develop the leadership of union members, leaders, and staff organizers.
  • Responsible for the hiring and management of a diverse staff with special attention to coaching and developing leadership skills and qualities, creating a culturally competent workplace that represents the diversity of the organization
  • Innovation to best serve the needs of the field programs
  • Major event planning and recruitment for large and small member events. 
  • Anchor legislative session field program and grass roots lobbying efforts. 

Requirements include demonstrated experience in the following:
  • Running leadership development programs with attention to teaching and curriculum development.
  • Long term strategic planning.
  • Campaign planning.
  • Utilizing and developing metric based tracking systems.
  • Supervising and developing staff. 
  • Union organizing including having been a lead union organizer or other similar field leadership accountability.
Preferences: Fluency in a second language is plus. Experience working with a labor union, progressive non-profit, community organization, advocacy group, political campaign or elected official is a plus. Demonstrated commitment to creating positive worker/employer relationships while fighting to raise standards for all workers in the industry is also a plus.

Compensation: Salary range is $64,000 to $74,000 annually, depending on experience. Benefits include fully employer-paid family benefits (includes domestic partner) for health, dental, pharmacy and vision coverage, fully employer-paid defined benefit pension (SEIU), disability and life insurance, a generous leave package, car allowance, an optional 401(K) plan, and other benefits outlined in the policies of SEIU 775.
