The Arizona Pension Coalition is a labor and community coalition table that fights to protect fair retirement benefits for working class families. The coalition has had major successes in recent years, including helping stop or defeat anti-pension ballot measure campaigns in two cities and defending pensions in the state legislature. The coalition Coordinator will be responsible for facilitating the work of the table, and assisting in execution of advocacy efforts.
Responsibilities include:
- Scheduling and convening regular meetings of coalition members
- Facilitating table meetings, including setting the agenda, prepping meeting materials, inviting and securing RSVPs from participants, and distributing notes and action items after meetings)
- Managing the coalition budget
- Holding coalition members accountable for meeting deliverables and metrics of agree-upon plan
- Providing coalition members with educational materials for their individual memberships
- Developing materials for lobby days and individual lobbying visits
- Developing earned media materials like LTEs, op-eds, press releases, etc.
- Coordinating lobby days, earned media actions, and other coalition activities
- Maintaining regular communication with coalition members
The idea candidate will have 1-3 cycles of campaign or issue advocacy experience, and be available to relocate immediately to Phoenix, Arizona. This position is currently based through the end of the Arizona legislative session, with potential for extension into special session or after.
