About The Atlas Project

The Atlas Project is committed to building the institutional memory of the progressive movement. Our mission is to arm the progressive community with historical elections data, sophisticated analysis, and real-time updates for all 50 states. We provide political campaigns and progressive organizations a baseline set of information to work from – helping them learn from the past to ensure more progressive victories in the future.

Atlas Political and Research Fellowships

Atlas Fellows assist our Analysts in producing strategic, high-level political research and communications to support Atlas' comprehensive state reports, online toolkit, research products, and an array of clients in the progressive community.

Duties include:

  • Monitoring and clipping press coverage about clients, issue campaigns, and key legislative and political campaign developments.
  • Collecting data and information for key states including: polling data, election results, candidate information, campaign finance data, legislative partisan control, ballot initiatives, and filing deadlines/qualifications.
  • Fact checking reports and memos.
  • Writing briefings, blog posts, and other materials on research findings.
  • Assisting in the vetting of political candidates, corporations, and spokespeople.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Excellent research and writing skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • High proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of Lexis-Nexis, campaign finance reporting, and media monitoring
  • Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a member of our fast-paced team
Preferred but not required:
  • Previous campaign or labor experience
  • Knowledge of Catalist
  • Familiarity with digital media

The fellowship requires a commitment of 35 hours/week. A monthly stipend is available.  The ideal candidate will be able to commit to the fellowship through May 2015, with the possibility of an extension up to one year.
