Senior Director, National Account Team (Washington, DC)

NGP VAN is looking for a Senior Director for its National Account Team, located in Washington, DC.

About NGP VAN: NGP VAN is the leading technology provider to progressive campaigns and organizations, offering an integrated platform that combines the best-of-breed in digital, fundraising, field, organizing, and compliance tools. We're honored to power the activities for the Obama campaign; the DNC, DSCC, and DCCC; the majority of Democratic state caucuses; and thousands of other candidates and organizations.
NGP VAN employees are widely recognized as the geeks that provide the competitive advantage to Democrats and progressive organizations. We've been committed to building tools to advance the Democratic cause for over 17 years, becoming the industry standard for successful campaigns up and down the ballot. Much of our team is made up of former campaign staffers, all of whom genuinely care about Democratic campaigns and ensuring their success.
Here's what you'll do as part of our team:
  • Lead and manage a passionate and growing sales team in our Washington, D.C. office to reach aggressive team-wide and company revenue goals
  • Oversee the expansion of new business primarily through your and your team's prospecting and strategic outreach, as well as by building relationships with stakeholders, consultants, and campaign staff
  • Coach and train a great team that will readily develop expertise in how best to leverage our tools in all aspects of digital campaigning (fundraising, field, compliance, etc.)
  • Establish and build relationships with current NGP VAN clients to encourage implementation of new innovative tools and services, particularly in upselling clients on our email/CRM digital tools
  • Be the strategic and implementation lead on key projects (both short and long-term)  while ensuring you/your team conducts exceptional sales management and client management on a daily basis
  • Collaborate with a wide array of NGP VAN staff to exceed each client's expectations
  • Rub elbows with Democratic activists, state stakeholders, digital, fundraising and compliance consultants and members of the professional campaign community who are fighting the good fight
  • Be a jetsetter as needed for trainings and in-person meetings

And here are the skills & experience we are looking for:
·        Highly motivated self-starter with a knack for strategic/critical thinking, problem solving and process improvement
·        Demonstrated interest in Democratic political campaigns and progressive politics
·        Meticulous attention to detail
·        Ability to manage people and projects to successful completion without significant supervision
·        Excellent oral and written communication skills
·        A passion for problem-solving, logistics, best practices, and data-driven decision-making
·        Talent commensurate with leading a sales team responsible for daily sales outreach: primarily via phone, online demonstrations, and email.
·        A keen interest in changing Democratic politics for the better -- and a nagging curiosity about how to use NGP VAN's innovative tools to make that change happen
·        Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel; Salesforce and other CRM experience
·        Previous experience with NGP VAN's product suite or similar campaign CRMs
·        Former Democratic campaign managers, state party executive directors, digital directors, finance staff, and caucus directors with 5-10 years of experience are especially encouraged to apply
