 JOB OPENING: EASTERN STATES ADVOCATE

(Consulting position)

 

Environmental Entrepreneurs (E2) is a national, nonpartisan organization of business owners, investors and others who advocate for smart policies that are good for both the environment and the economy. An affiliate of the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), E2 works at both the state and national levels. More information can be found at www.e2.org.

Position Description

E2 is seeking an experienced advocate and organizer who can identify, educate, organize and work closely with E2 members and other business leaders in Eastern states to support and shape smart policies at the state and federal level to expand clean energy, reduce carbon pollution and improve both our economy and our environment.

The primary focus of the Eastern States Advocate will be advocating for strong state implementation of the federal Clean Power Plan in states stretching from Pennsylvania to Virginia, as well as parts of New England and the Southeast.

The Eastern States Advocate also will be responsible for recruiting new E2 members and working with E2 chapter leaders, allies and others throughout the region.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter with experience working with lawmakers and policymakers in Eastern states, who has connections in business communities throughout the region. Position will ideally be based in Pennsylvania or in Washington, DC.

 

Responsibilities

·      Coordinating outreach to businesses, lawmakers, policymakers and press

·      Educating and organizing business leaders on environmental policies

·      Overseeing E2's advocacy efforts in key states

·      Identifying and recruiting new E2 members and advocates

·      Coordinating with allies and NRDC and E2 staff on policy issues

·      Organizing and hosting business events to build awareness of key E2 issues

 


Professional Qualifications

·      Experience in organizing and advocacy work

·      Experience working with business executives and lawmakers

·      Experience or strong interest in legislative, energy and climate change issues

·      Experience working autonomously and remotely

·      Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills

·      Familiarity with environmental policy issues
