Salary is commensurate with experience. Overseas experience helpful.
Democrats Abroad is officially known as the Democratic Party Committee Abroad or DPCA; it is the official arm of the Democratic Party overseas and is considered a State Party.
Summary
Democrats Abroad seeks a dynamic, flexible, creative, committed and reliable professional to lead our mostly all-volunteer global staff. (We operate across five continents and 15 time zones.) We are looking for a person with management, fundraising, communication, and political skills, who is passionate about what we do and eager to work with a diverse talented team across 53 Country Committees. The position being offered is half-time, with expectation that it would soon develop to a full-time position.
Scope
The Executive Director (ED) oversees the program and fundraising activities of Democrats Abroad in coordination with the International Chair and the Executive Committee. The ED's main objective is to develop a strong worldwide organization and make progress on Democrats Abroad's mission to mobilize U.S. citizens abroad, get them to vote and help elect Democrats in the U.S.
Executive Director responsibilities
· assist the International Chair and other members of the DPCA Executive Committee (ExCom) in managing the organization, including interacting with Country Committee leaders around the globe
· spearhead drafting and implementation of 2015-2016 VR & GOTV Plan
· spearhead implementation of the DA 2016 Delegate Selection Plan
· support the DA Communications team
o to monitor and update DA websites and expand social media reach
o to promote positive media interactions and train Country Committee media contacts; ensure that press releases and other public communications are properly vetted
o to ensure adequate communications with DA members around the globe
· manage DA finances, provide financial reports and projections, assist the International Treasurer in budgetary responsibilities and ensure timely filing of monthly and annual FEC reports; supervise DA financial assistant
· work with the DA Fundraising Committee to develop and expand fundraising and monitor donor-relations software
· work with the International Counsel to ensure that all DA activities comply with federal campaign and other applicable laws and to provide guidance to Country Committees on legal matters
· build connections between DA Data/IT Committees and DNC/State Party data initiatives
· organize and/or participate in regular conference calls with the ExCom, the DNC, ASDC, and occasionally with VIP guest speakers or officials from Federal agencies
· organize or assist in administration of DA Global and Regional Meetings
· coordinate with other State Democratic Party Executive Directors
· represent Democrats Abroad proactively within the DNC, ASDC, Congress, the White House including attendance at meetings as required and liaisons with State and Defense Departments on overseas voter assistance programs
· liaise with legislators, regulators and interest group representatives on legislative issues of key concern to Americans abroad
· develop and schedule events for Democratic Party VIPs traveling abroad
