LCV works to turn environmental values into national, state, and local priorities. LCV, in collaboration with our state LCV partners, advocates for sound environmental laws and policies, holds elected officials accountable for their votes and actions, and elects pro-environment candidates who will champion our priority issues.  


Purpose: Work with the development team to develop, plan, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive Annual Giving Program that successfully increases participation and long-term financial growth from individual donors in the $1,000 to $9,999 giving range. This position will successfully organize and develop direct mail solicitations, online giving, direct solicitation, political briefings, GiveGreen fundraising, and other engagement opportunities.

 

Description:

LCV is seeking a top-notch, experienced, fundraising professional to develop and lead a comprehensive annual giving program and help LCV double its base of $1,000- $9,999 donors by the end of 2016. The Director of Annual Giving will join a dynamic and growing development team, poised to raise $20 million this year and $80 Million in 2016. 


Joining the LCV team is a great opportunity to shift the politics of climate change and to deepen and expand your skills as a development professional.  In addition to working with LCV's first-class team nationally, the Director of Annual Giving will work with state-based LCV organizations from around the country as part of a collaborative fundraising structure. The Director of Annual Giving is a senior member of LCV's Development Department.  This position will be based in Washington, DC.


Responsibilities:

Manage and develop a pipeline and a targeted portfolio of donors and prospective donors with the ability to give in the $1,000 - $9,999 range, donors and work to deepen their relationships with and increase their giving to LCV through mail, online, phone, and in-person strategies. 

Conduct calls and visits with donors, building relationships and soliciting gifts directly as well as coordinating outreach to annual giving donors with Major Gift Officers.

Plan and implement multiple direct mail appeals and updates including developing themes and messages, writing mail and email pieces, and working with an outside mail-house.

Conduct regular and detailed analysis of program performance.

Focus on high donor retention, increasing the average gift, donor acquisition, and building a robust pipeline for major gifts.

Develop and lead strategies to increase participation in engagement opportunities, like conference calls and events, while working to support raise money directly for pro-environmental candidates through GiveGreen. 

Participate in high-level planning for LCV to help set both fundraising and programmatic goals.

Ensure portfolio records are current with all necessary and pertinent information, and input contacts and actions into database in a timely manner.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required, with 4+ years of experience in fundraising, including a successful track record of closing gifts and organizing an annual giving program.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, self-motivation, strong judgment, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.  Must be creative, proactive, disciplined, and able to think strategically.

Extremely motivated by goals, motivated to produce excellent results and exceed expectations.

Politically savvy, with a great sense of humor and an eagerness for continued learning.

Passionate about protecting the environment.

Well organized and detail-oriented.

Must be professional, honest and trustworthy, and capable of handling confidential information with the utmost discretion.

Issue advocacy and/or political fundraising experience strongly preferred.
