Donor Relations Associate, Every Voice Center


Every Voice Center seeks to transform our political system into one that represents everyday people, not big donors. We advance this mission through policy analysis, research, public education, and coalition building. We're building the political power necessary to create a democracy that's truly of, by, and for the people. We partner closely with Every Voice, a 501(c)4, to advance small-donation public financing systems to fund elections at the federal, state, and local levels. Ours is a fun, dynamic, and innovative staff, with experience in all sectors of public service and a shared interest in strengthening our democracy.


The Donor Relations Associate supports the Every Voice family of organizations' efforts to develop strong and lasting relationships with its individual and institutional supporters. S/he owns responsibility for processing and acknowledging all grants and donations and for directly supporting the Development Director in producing proposals and reports. The Associate will also work closely with the Special Assistant For Campaigns & Major Gifts, who will manage the daily work as it relates to the consistent implementation and maintenance of development protocols. S/he will also be integrally involved in other activities to help the development team to achieve annual fundraising goals.

 

Responsibilities

Grants Administration and Management

·       Process, review, and monitor implementation of grant agreements, including special requests or conditions related to grant acceptance

·       Track proposal deadlines and relevant foundation docket dates

·       Coordinate foundation reporting process and ensure all requirements stipulated in grant agreements are satisfied

·       Help prepare foundation reports and proposals, including drafting, editing, and formatting relevant documents.

·       Track and document interactions between Every Voice representatives and representatives of institutional donors or prospects with influence on the grant decision-making process

·       Identify opportunities to cultivate and/or deepen relationships with institutional funders

Individual Donor Stewardship/Maintenance

·       Process all incoming donations and ensure they are handled according to department protocols

·       Maintain donor database, ensuring accurate information and consistent taxonomy

·       Run database queries, including weekly contribution reports

·       Maintain all records to ensure compliance with accounting standards

·       Respond to donor queries

Fundraising

·       Coordinate and implement all in-house mailings to donors

·       Conduct donor research / prospecting

·       Support and staff fundraising and donor cultivation events

·       Ensure timely filing and renewals of state charitable registrations

Other Support

·       Manage scheduling, materials, and logistics, especially with respect to fundraising and travel, for Every Voice Center President & CEO

·       Draft, edit, fact check, and format materials

·       Other duties as assigned.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Post-secondary-school degree in relevant discipline, or 1-2 years equivalent experience
  • 1-2 years experience managing databases
  • Advanced writing skills
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to consistently meet deadlines
  • Strong work ethic, commitment to excellence
  • Highly organized and able to analyze and weigh competing priorities
  • History of resourceful problem solving in workplace setting  
  • Proven record of tact and discretion with personal information
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Commitment to social, economic, and racial justice

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with NGP and/or SALSA
  • Experience in charitable or political fundraising
  • Experience in nonprofit financial management or bookkeeping
  • Interest in and knowledge about campaign finance and other democracy reforms


Job Details

Salary is commensurate with experience. A generous benefits package is offered. Position is full-time and based in the organization's Washington, D.C. office. Some travel required.
