Clean Water Action. Our Field and Phone Canvass Teams work from offices across the nation to recruit members, fundraise, spread awareness, and activate citizens in key political districts. Clean Water Action organizes throughout the year, so these are long-term positions. Canvass programs provide extensive training and rapid advancement to leadership positions. You will learn strategic communication skills and gain knowledge about environmental issues, grassroots lobbying, and organizing and fundraising.

Canvass Directors and Assistant Canvass Directors Manage one of our 17 organizing and fundraising field or phone offices across the country, with bottom-line responsibility for all local operations. Recruit, train and develop a canvass staff. Manage a canvass program capable of projecting Clean Water Action's politics, carrying out grassroots lobbying and election campaigns, and affecting social political change.


Field/Phone Managers Work under the Canvass Director to manage daily operations of the team. Supervise the canvass team in the field and in the office. Hire and train new staff members. Manage turf records and campaign information. Maintain personal fundraising and organizing standards.


Training Newly hired staff will typically spend three to four months doing hands-on training, working intensely alongside experienced leadership. Directors and managers receive support from regional staff throughout their time with Clean Water Action. After one year in the position, staff will have learned the basics of running a successful grassroots campaign including, but not limited to, fundraising and donor recruitment, hiring and supervising staff and/or volunteers, and turf management.


Qualifications Candidates must have field or phone canvass, fundraising or political organizing experience. Management or leadership experience is a plus. A strong background in national political and environmental issues, high level of professionalism and effective communication, and the motivation to make an impact are required.


Timing and Location Positions are available immediately in cities nationwide. Currently hiring in MA, RI, PA, MD, CO, CA, TX, MN, and Washington, D.C. Final location will be based on organization priority.
