[jobsthatareLEFT] Program Assistant at Union of Concerned Scientists (Washington DC or Cambridge MA)

The Center for Science and Democracy (Center) at UCS is dedicated to advancing the essential role of science, evidence-based knowledge, and constructive debate in the U.S. policymaking process, using three core strategies: restoring public confidence in, and support for the use of independent science in public policy making; helping decision makers, citizens and journalists distinguish evidence-based information from propaganda; and working with scientists to help them engage in effective communication with the public, media and decision makers.

The program assistant is the glue that holds everything together. She or he is responsible for program administration, database maintenance, event support, and outreach to UCS supporters. The program assistant joins other staff in being the public face of the Center at conferences and events. He or she will also support and help grow the UCS Science Network, a diverse network of nearly 17,000 scientists and other experts from all walks of life.
