An international alliance based at a major university is seeking a Senior Strategist to help manage and guide a global communications campaign to promote access to scientific innovation as a means of enhancing food security, improving environmental sustainability, and raising the quality of life globally.
The campaign will help inform decision-makers and consumers through an online information portal and training programs that will enable researchers and stakeholders to effectively communicate the potential impact of agricultural technology and how such technology works.
ROLE DESCRIPTION:
The primary responsibility of the Senior Strategist will be to advise the campaign's Director and to lead the development and implementation of an innovative campaign strategy, working with the other UK-based Senior Strategist and the rest of the university-based team. (S)he will be responsible for managing and coaching the senior leadership team, and will offer guidance and support to partners and allies around the globe.
Additionally, the Senior Strategist will work with the leadership team to make decisions around targeting and resource allocation, develop strategic plans tailored to the unique landscape of each priority country, build relationships with key donors, and oversee campaign programs that leverage the power of grassroots organizing to reach campaign goals.
This position will be based in New York State and will require both domestic and international travel. Salary will be commensurate with experience, and the position offers an excellent benefits package.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate for the Senior Strategist position will have:

A passionate belief in the importance of access to agricultural biotechnology as a means of addressing critical issues such as poverty and food insecurity

A strong commitment to the power of data-driven, people-focused grassroots organizing

A proven ability to analyze complex issues and translate ideas into effective strategies

Exceptional oral and written communication skills

Exceptional problem-solving skills

A minimum of 6 years work experience, and at least 4 -5 years in a
management position

Experience working as a senior staffer on a statewide, national, or
international electoral or advocacy campaign

Experience in facilitating and executing trainings effectively, as well as
developing training content

An ability to effectively build and maintain relationships with high-level
stakeholders, organizational partners, and donors from diverse
communities around the globe

Experience in managing an organizational budget

Experience as a spokesperson or otherwise communicating with the
press (preferred)
