Grossman Heinz is seeking an experienced State Field Director to start immediately and lead a statewide issue advocacy campaign in New Hampshire on behalf of a national membership organization. The campaign will seek to spark engagement and dialogue around an important national issue in the lead up to the 2016 presidential election.
The State Field Director will manage a team of staff and volunteers in order to meet program goals. The Director will be responsible for the same work as his or her team, spending a portion of their time directly engaging members and volunteers through tactics such as phone calls, canvasses, online engagement, and in-person events.
The campaign will be based in Manchester, New Hampshire and run from early August through February 29, 2016 with the possibility of extending through November 2016.
Job Responsibilities
The State Field Director will:
Work effectively with campaign leadership to develop a membership engagement plan
Meet with organizational and local stakeholders to represent the campaign and communicate campaign objectives
Manage and motivate all staff to reach campaigns goals, which will include recruiting and activating volunteers, and cultivating volunteer leaders
Work with campaign leadership to develop, refine, and help lead ongoing trainings for staff and volunteers
Refine program tactics and adjust methods as needed
Provide daily and weekly reporting on progress to goal for all metrics
Support quality control measures to ensure data integrity of all information collected
Participate in the staff hiring process
Support campaign leadership in regular staff performance evaluations
Reporting
The State Field Director will report daily to a Grossman Heinz project manager.
Qualifications
5+ years of experience, including multiple cycles of leading voter-targeted field operations, or organizing campaigns for politically-minded organizations
Ability to build and maintain relationships with staff, stakeholders, and volunteers with beliefs across the political spectrum
Very strong leadership qualities and experience managing staff
Experience creating training materials or leading training of others
Strategic mindset with flexibility to quickly adjust tactics
Metrics-driven approach to planning, evaluating, and reporting on work
Strong desire to impact progressive issues
Access to reliable transportation and willingness to travel throughout the state
Must be proficient with computer technology and databases
Previous experience working with volunteers is a plus
Experience in New Hampshire is a plus
