[jobsthatareLEFT] Digital Campaigning Paid Fellowship OPEN-US Kairos Fellowship (virtual office)

The OPEN-US Kairos Fellowship is a paid six month hands on training program for emerging digital campaigners of color. Kairos, an ancient Greek word, refers to "the right or opportune moment for action."

In the past year, we have witnessed an inspiring movement for civil rights that is calling attention to structural violence, racism, and inequality in the United States. Technology and digital campaigning have fundamentally changed how we organize. Yet there is often an access gap when it comes to leaders of color employing these cutting-edge tools.

The Kairos Fellowship is designed to address the racial disparity that exists within the digital movement by pairing robust recruitment with a training and mentorship program that creates a new cohort of tech-savvy campaigners of color.

Kairos will match and place 11 fellows at leading national and state organizations. Fellows will join a team of campaigners and engage in the following duties:

  • Reading news and social media and providing your analysis of current issues
  • Identifying campaign opportunities
  • Creating compelling content for social media and email campaigns
  • Developing creative campaign strategies and tactics
  • Participating in the culture and team spirit of the organization they are placed with

Fellows will receive hands on training, mentorship, and a six-month campaigner apprenticeship—from January - June 2016. Fellows will receive a full-time salary, benefits and the following support:

  • Bootcamp-style digital training led by expert campaigners
  • An experienced mentor
  • Participation in ongoing trainings and webinars
  • Peer support through the Kairos Fellowship cohort

Fellow qualifications: We are looking for imaginative, quick thinking, self-motivated individuals with a preference for candidates with two or more years organizing experience. Candidates must possess deep ties to communities of color, a passion for social justice, and a love for the internet and its vast potential for building progressive power and increasing civic engagement.

Please note that some of the placements are virtual and others are location based. We are accepting applications through October 18.
