Louisiana State Senate Campaign is seeking a highly motivated campaign staffer to join our team. Our campaign is looking for individuals eager to expand their campaign toolbox. We will run a grassroots program that provides volunteers the skills and resources they need to engage suburban and rural communities. Some of the communities that our district covers have some of the lowest median incomes in the entire country so a person looking to make a difference where it is most needed is highly desired. An ideal candidate has charisma, is highly organized, and is ready to hit the ground running. The Field Director will report to the Campaign Manager. The position is full-time with regular campaign hours and competitively salaried.
Responsibilities
· Write and execute a field plan to contact, persuade and turn out voters
· Work with Campaign Manager and other staff to ensure integration of field into larger strategy
· Manage the voter database, including selecting targets, tracking IDs and volunteer contact information
· Manage a team of paid canvassers and volunteers
· Create a welcoming and positive work space for volunteers and staff
· Train field organizers and volunteers on voter persuasion, data integrity and other relevant skills
· Run weekly field staff meetings and daily reporting calls
· Manage a metrics driven operation and report progress to goals in a timely and accurate manner
· Help plan and build for campaign events and candidate appearances
· Build and manage relationships with allied organizations as they pertain to field activities
· Post regular social media updates regarding field outreach to campaign pages
· Fill-in when needed and available to supplement campaign finance activities. For example: Call time
Qualifications
Applicants must
· Have a minimum of one cycle of field experience, previous management of paid staff not necessary if previous history of effective volunteer management exists
· Be able to commit through November 25th
· Have a passion for organizing and voter engagement
· Possess excellent personal, verbal and written communication skills
· Be able to successfully coach and manage staff and volunteers
· Have the ability to communicate with diverse populations and leaders
· Be able to work in a high-pressure setting and willing to work long hours, including nights and weekends
· Have experience meeting goals and the ability to manage many tasks simultaneously
· Possess a driver's license and vehicle
· Be proficient with Microsoft Excel and Votebuilder
